Problems with starting

Anyone out there having any intermittent problems with starting? I have had some problems when I start my TL. Sometimes it cranks way too long. I have to stop cranking and start it again. It always starts no problem, after I start it again but it just bugs me !! Sometimes when it starts it takes a second to come up to idle speed.....the idle seems to "flutter" for a second before it idle's correctly.

Coupla things:
1) I guesssed hot start - I think the system is dealing with gas volatility and trying to ensure that a minimum of unburnt fuel is released into the cat - in the long run, that is good for the air and your car. 2) Here is a tip which really is a tip for everyone for every start. Turn the key to on, but wait a second until you hear the fuel pump cut off - that means the fuel rail is fully pressuruzed, and the car should start right up, for a cold start. It may also reduce the longer crank times during a #1.

2002 cavalier 2,2 eco, stalls sometimes, wont start other times. No power signal at fuel pump when it wont run. Replaced relay, fuel filter, coolant sensor. usually starts. Solutions anyone?

With intermittent issues, have to test when problem is ongoing. How long since a tune-up?
If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs, if spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse. If your missing all three, check for rpm signal, comes from crank sensor.
If you can narrow it down to one system, we can test that one system. Any applicable trouble codes?

Why is it my 2007 toyota camry will sometimes start, and other times will just crank and not start?

Could be a cold start solenoid is intermittent or sensor to it is flaky.

So my fuel pump has been making a high pitched noise for a while. Then one day, without warning, I tried to start the car but it wouldn't. It cranked but would not start. I turned the car on (not start)...

I looked at info for 3.1L vinM Buick regal. fuel pressure key on engine off, 40.5--47 psi. Can you check the vin? The fuel pressure specs I have for 3.8L engine are even higher than the 3.1L.
You will get a fuel pump prime, key on engine off. You need to make sure fuel pump runs with engine cranking.
My hearing is no good, I can't hear fuel pump with engine cranking.
Sometimes If fuel pump brushes are bad, the fuel pump may run intermittently. Sometimes you can bang on bottom of gas tank when trying to start and the fuel pump will take off running.

Use the key method. On-off-on-off-on-off-on you may have to adjust the sequence some.

2004 Acura TL 3.2L.when cool start easy the problem is when the engine is hot is har to start, i check the fuel pression, and go up to 95 psi, with the switch on, and go dawn to fast , take two seconds...

Test at idle this has a internal pressure regulator in the tank, the pressure at idle should be 55-62 psi at idle, how did you measure 95psi?The TL is plaqued with loose terminal connection on the crank sensor causing intermittent start up.Did you check that?Coolant temp sensor how about that one?it on top engine next to EGR check that for proper fitting. also proper coolant level. You check the map sensor? no vacuum leaks it has to have go vacuum signal .

Can anyone help with an intermittent starting issue with a '98 mercury mountaineer?

If the motor turns over, but not start. Have the "crank shaft sensor" checked/replaced Ford part# 184768 $27.98 parts $230.00 labor). I chased this problem for several years. The crank sensor finally failed completely and the mechanic was able to find the problem.
Good luck
