EOBD Code: P0183 - Fault location: Fuel temperature sensor A - high input. Probable cause: Wiring short to positive, fuel temperature sensor bad, ECM bad.

  • Anonymous Sep 12, 2010

I suspect that the fuel temperature sensor is bad. Replace the sensor and test the car again.

    Best Regards!

I got a diagnostics reading for my 1996 subaru legacy outback and got codes po183. got any answers for me?

P0183 Subaru - Fuel Temperature Sensor 'A' Circuit High Input ' Add Comment
Possible causes
- Faulty Fuel Temperature Sensor
- Fuel Temperature Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Fuel Temperature Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
What does this mean?
When is the code detected?
An excessively high voltage from the sensor is sent to ECM.
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P0183 Subaru Description
The fuel tank temperature sensor is used to detect the fuel temperature inside the fuel tank. The sensor modifies a voltage signal from the ECM. The modified signal returns to the ECM as the fuel temperature input. The sensor uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. The electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases as temperature increase

this sensor is in the fuel tank on the fuel pump assembly. If you look under the carpet behind the rear passenger seat, you should see a sort of rectangular access cover. Underneath this cover is the connector to the fuel pump. Make sure that all looks good. Could just be a bad connection. Sometimes when you have the fuel filter replaced a place will unhook this connector. When it's reconnected it might not be fully seated or have a bent pin or something

Dodge code p0183

Fuel temperature sensor circuit ( high input) It senses the fuel temperature in tank and sends signal to ECM. I'd check and clean connection first.

Code P0113-P0183

DTC P0113 - Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input. The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the temperature of the air entering the engine. The PCM supplies a 5 volt reference voltage to the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. The IAT is a thermistor that varies resistance based on temperature. As the temperature increases, resistance decreases. Low temperature results in a high signal voltage. When the PCM sees a signal voltage higher than 5 volts, it sets this P0113 check engine light code.

DTC P0183 - Fuel Temperature Sensor Circuit High Voltage.

I suggest to check wire connections.

My 2004 nissan sentra will not start, just turns over.obd code po455,po183 and po463 not sure what to check. I tried gas cap, took gas line off and turned car over but no fuel, it my be my fuel pump but...

P0183 = Fuel temperature sensor A circuit, high input

P0455 = evaporative emission (EVAP) control system leak detected (no purge flow or large leak)

P0463 = fuel level sensor circuit, high input.

Check to see if the charcoal (evap) canister is full of fuel. If so, empty it. Check for a faulty canister vent valve. Check for a short to ground in wiring to fuel temp sensor and fuel level sensor.
