I have a 1994 caprice ex police lt1 4l60e. things were fine. for about 2 months.then getting on freeway picking up speed and trans acted like it did not want to up shift. it was already in 2nd. got home, slowly. checked fluid. kinda dark but not burnt smelling. drove it. had delayed shift to 2nd and would go to 3rd? when i let off gas a bit. took it to 2 places.all they did was drive it nothing else. both said needs complete rebuild. duh, was totally expecting that. that was almost 2 yrs ago. car is still in driveway. i start it every 2 days drive it twice a month pulls strong as a bull in 1st? smokes the tires even! but still has delayed shift and quite hard too. when driving it revs high (not a neutral kind of rev) and pulls strong like it wants to up shift but wont. like its just stuck. any hope or pay the 1400 dollars?. oh, digital speedo flashes so does odometer

Hi, it may be the transmission oil, transmission oil LEVEL or and transmission filter.
first check transmission level by starting the engine (ticking over) go through ALL GEARS and check level. this level will (drop from standing idle). NOT ENOUGH FLUID
if the FILTER is partially blocked then not enough fluid reaching the chambers. NOT ENOUGH FLUID.
the fluid may be full of deposits. transmission fluid needs REPLACING and or FILTER.
also check if leaking transmission fluid.
check if lever out of range (worn, can't get to position before end of gear lever travel).
the brake bands may be WORN, or needs adjusting
the KICK-DOWN seams to work. check link-ergs for wear and movement.
the speedo seams to have a BAD CONNECTION (closed circuit connected then open circuit). loose connector. gerry

Abs light stays on 1994 chevy caprice
It likely needs a new unit, that models ABS unit is not servicable. If it stayed out, then came on AFTER you started driving then it would be a bad wheel speed sensor, but no such luck if it's always on.

You might have a vaccum leak of some kind. There are many things that could cause this. It could be the fuel injectors. You may have one bad one. Are you getting any codes? Check engine light on?

Trans not shifting
your transmission has a vacumn modulator on the side it requires vacumn from the engine to shift make sure the vacumn hose from the trans to the engine is plugged on and working, if that is correct then step 2 is the governer which would require a tranny shop to check, but id bet on the vacumn line give it a try! good luck and thankx billy

I have a 1995 Blazer and last night i was driving and it acted like i shifted into neutral... it will be fine till about 25-30 mph then acts the same way? i have 2nd gear though and it wors fine??
The problem is one of a few things. Bad or low fluid. shift solinoid in the trans going bad. or pump in the trans getting very weak.

this is best checked by a service shop specializing in trans work.
