1999 Chevy Silverrado, 5.3 Z71. Stalling out when warmed up going up hill. Took it to Chevy certified repair man said it was Catalist converters. Had those repaced, drove it for a week then same stalling problem happened again.

Did you notice if you where low on gas either or both times this happened? I wonder if it's not a fuel pressure problem? Other wise might give it a tune up air filter, plugs, fuel filter. I've also noticed that chevy's are always happier with a fresh oil change.

I have a 1999 chevy malibu - 45000 mi. Took to auto zone for computer reading and replaced O2 sensor that the dealer replaced with the fuel filter. about 145 miles while accelerating up a moderate hill...

The 02 sensor is detecting a malfunction in the emissions. That would be from a bad fuel mixture, too rich or too lean caused by dirty or faulty injectors or MAF sensor. A clogged catalytic converter will also cause it. Connect a manual fuel gauge to the fuel rail and test your fuel presuure. Test your fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pressure should increase 5-10 pounds when you disconnect the regulator...if it don't, the regulator is bad...Check for vacuum leaks and stuck or dirty egr valve. This would cause a lean condition. Check your air filter. Good luck, i hope this helps.

1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, surging, stalling

Check the Alternator, Mine was doing something similar to it, was almost dieing constantly, at stops in drive, lights would flicker alot on bumps and up hills when rpm's would increase. Also yea mine also got worse after it warmed up, I replaced the alt. with a reman. but unless it was professionally rebuilt by a local electrical shop (which are kind of rare now a days) I would just get a new one from a local parts house, Also you pay for what you get. Do not have the shop get the part for you because they have anywhere from a 10%-25% mark up on local parts houses which is close or above what you would pay
