Yes, the codes do indicate the problems and certainly lack of power. The P1259 is set when there is a problem in the VTEC Oil Pressure Switch circuit or VTEC Solenoid Valve circuit
P1164 and 1149 are both Faulty Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor 1

If the CEL is not on, then the problem is intermittent. The first step is to locate the VTEC switch and A/F Ratio sensor, and verify the connections are OK. Having both of these fail together would be odd. I suspect the main culprit is the VTEC Oil Pressure Switch.

I can count the number of Honda transmissions that go bad before 300,000 miles on one hand.

SOURCE: check engine light comes on and off, auto zone

The EGR valve helps your car more efficiently and completely burn fuel by recirculating a portion of your exhaust and running it through the combustion process again. When the EGR valve goes bad, it must be replaced.

The EGR valve, or Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve, is a vacuum controlled valve which allows a specific amount of your exhaust back into the intake manifold. This exhaust mixes with the intake air and actually cools the combustion process. Cooler is always better inside your engine. The exhaust your EGR valve recirculates also prevents the formation of Nitrogen related gases. These are referred to as NOX emissions, and are a common cause for failing emissions testing. Unfortunately, your EGR valve can get stuck, causing NOX gases to build up. You'll know if your EGR valve is stuck or malfunctioning because your car will experience symptoms like rough idle and bucking on acceleration.

Here is a picture of where the EGR Valve is located (Accord 1999). Replacing it is fairly simple and straightforward. A vacuum line and a couple of bolts. You'll see what you have to do when you look at it.

b7a686b.gif

If you are replacing the EGR Valve due to the Check Engine Light (MIL) being on with a DTC P0401 then I suggest contacting your Honda Dealer. There was a Product Update Campaign (PUD) in the fall of 1999 that corrected the problem.

Another times, the clean is the solution...I hope help yoiu with this. Good luck, and remember rated this help.

SOURCE: 2002 Honda Accord V6 check engine light on- local

po505 idle air control if this is the code all hondas do it eventully, small problem easy fix u have 2 choices either remove the idle air control motor and clean the inside of it u will find it's black and the spring inside is stuck clean it with carb cleaner or gum cutter any parts store will have this it's a dirty job it will work for awhile but to replace it is recommended its not expensive for a new one which u can get at any autoparts store autozone, advanced, napa etc. there is only 2 bolts in most cases maybe 3 i doubt it though if u go online t google and type in th eyear make and model and engine size in ur case it's a 3.0 v6 and look for idle air control locations u'll find it to do this job a shop will charge u anywhere from 100.00 for diag to retrive the code plus the part and the labor so about 250.00-375.00 it will only take u honestly maybe 15 minutes to perform only tools needed are a 10 millimeter wrench there is only 1 connector to disconnect and ur done if u do this u will still have the check engine light because u have not cleared it from the computer to do this just disconnect the negative battery terminal (the black one or has a neg sign - don't disconnect the positive side +)for 5 minutes then reconnect and the computer will have reset no more light. good luck it really is that easy

SOURCE: I have a 1998 Honda Accord the service engine soon

p1259 is a problem with the VTEC system. this system is for improved performance at higher rpm's. oil can get sludged up and clog the system, or the VTEC solenoid can just go bad. you can always have someone with a scan tool clear the codes to turn off the light, but until the problem is fixed, it will just keep coming back on

Oxygen sensor showed up on inspection code P1259 and code P0401 i would like to purchase them and know how to fix them and by the way it's a 1998 honda odyssey

Go to autozone.com and register for free. Then you will have a full free online repair manual and also purchase the sensors there as well .I recommend it to everyone!
It is best to have a warm exhaust when removing the sensors. And use an 02 sensor socket only.

Fault engine is showing in the meter the number of engine is 1259

If the car is not having any run issue I would definitely check the oil level. The code translates p1259 as VTEC System Malfunction. I would also ask if you have changed the oil recently. Typically running 10/40 rather than 5/30 in these motors can cause this code to be generated.

I have a 2005 honda civic si recently my check engine light came on showing the following codes they are P1259 and P1166

P1259 is a code for vtec malfunction usually cause by a bad vtec solenoid, vtec pressure sensor, low oil level, bad connection. Was oil change done? May want to check the oil level. P1166 is a code for a primary o2 sensor 1.

Our 2000 Honda Odyssey shifts hards between 1st and 2nd gear when accelerating fast. The check engine light and TCS lights are on. We just had the transmission replaced 2 years ago. Had it hooked up and it...

I'm not sure why you got that code definition. P1259 in the factory manual reads, "VTEC system malfunction". According to the manual you are supposed to reset the powertrain control module (PCM) then road test--accelerating in first gear to over 4000 rpm and hold that rpm for at least two seconds. If the code does not repeat then do the road test two more times just to be sure. If the code does repeat during the three acceleration tests, then the VTEC pressure switch and solenoid valve should be checked. If the code does not repeat during the three acceleration tests, then the system had an intermittant fault. As for the TCS light being on, I know this may sound simple but is the TCS switch off? If it is, that will cause the light to come on. The TCS light is more applicable to an ABS brake system problem. If the transmission has a fault, you should see a diagnostic code that begins with P07xx or P17xx. The green D4 drive light may also blink. Based on your symptoms of excessive shock in 1-2 upshifts, the book suggests the shift solenoid valve C could be defective, or the 2nd clutch pressure switch or the circuit could be defective, or there could be foreign material in the separator plate orifice, or seven other possible causes. I would suggest clearing the code and replacing the transmission fluid with genuine Honda fluid and then see if the code and the symptoms return.

2001 honda accord will not go into overdrive

Ok, make sure the tcm is connected properly. there is a o/d shift solenoid that is controlled by this device(tcm/pcm). if the wires and module aren't connected properly or, if the tcm/pcm is malfunctioning, it will render the OD inoperable. inspect the tcm and wires on the trans for correct connections and fit. test the module for its operational value and, pull the pan on the trans to test the OD shift solenoid as well.
