Question edited for clarity and correct name of vehicle.
You can't bypass it Cherie, it involves transponder chips, receivers and the engine computer (ECM).. The anti-theft system is there to stop theft of the vehicle, basically what you are trying to do. You have to fix the system, not find a way around it. This is the reset. As long as you battery is good and fully charged, it should only need doing once.
Just leave the key in the run position and the "Theft System " light on the dash will be flashing. Leave the key on for about 10 minutes and the light will stop flashing and go on solid. Then the theft system is disable.
its a simple system to reprogram. you should use a charger on the battery as it can take up to 30 minutes. turn the key on for 10 min until the theft light stops flashing. repeat this 2 more times and after the 3rd cycle., the programing should be complete
i had to change out my whole steering column there is a trick to make your car recongnize it...turn your key on but dont turn over leave on for up to ten min the theft light will go out when it does turn off car count to five then repeat this two more times. after the third time you turn off and count to five then turn the car on and turn over should start right up
It is possible to bypass this sytem so that normal keys can be used, will also save you from problems in the future since these system are KNOWN to fail and leave your car disabled http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
Yes there is a bypass. Costs about $200.00. You should be able to put the key close enough to the cylinder to get the security to go off. I don't know what you did to get the cylinder out. but there is a chip mounted to the steering column. once the key is close enough to it it will let the car start. If you broke the chip getting the cylinder out then you have some money to put out to get it running.
You have to do a relearn procedure on the anti-theft system:
Attempt to start the vehicle. Leave the ignition on until the THEFT SYSTEM indicator turns off (about 10 minutes). Turn the ignition switch off. Leave the ignition switch off with key in for about 10 minutes. Attempt to start vehicle.
My 2000 cavalier has done this for 6 months. You take your key out then open your door, wait ten minutes and the system resets itself and the car will start-annoying you bet!!!
