I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 80,000 miles on it. In the last two years since we've bought it, we've replaced the fuel pump 6 times -- all by the same mechanic! Four out of those six fuel pumps were replaced in the last 6 months. EVERY TIME the Jeep died, we brought it back to him, he replaced the fuel pump, and it ran great again (sometimes for only 45 minutes, sometimes for 2-3 months). Well, the Jeep won't start again and ANOTHER mechanic is telling me it's the fuel pump AND the fuel tank that needs replaced now. My original mechanic says it's the fuel pump again. Really?? I've had it up to HERE with this merry-go-round, so I'm looking for help. I've paid over $450 in fuel pump replacements and labor, not to mention the additional cost of rental cars, towing, "wiring" parts he's replaced, and other business I've given to him such as tune-ups, oil changes, new shocks, and so on. Why is this happening? What else could the problem be? What should I have the original mechanic look into next? At the moment, the Jeep will start, but then it behaves as if it's not getting enough gas, running out of gas, or only intermitten gas. The best I can describe it is like this (I'm sorry, I know nothing about cars): "VRRRRooom, put, put, put, put VRRRROOOmmmm, put, put, vrrrrrrrooom, put, put, put.." and then it dies. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME!

2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo . when engines warm, i step on the gas it chokes and stalls, but then it restarts again

When you step on the gas pedal the engine commands are to give more fuel,so obvoiusly you have a fuel pressure problem, from a neede fuel filter or even a new pump or both

I cant find the obd plug in on my 94 jeep grand cherokee laredo and my jeep will turn over but is hard to start what would cause this?

It does not have an obd11 connector, it's too old. The extended crank time could be a couple of things though. I've seen problems with fuel pumps, fuel pump relays and crankshaft sensors. How many miles on it? Has the fuel pump or filter been changed before?

I have a ticking noise coming from what I believe to be the crankshaft angle sensor. It goes in where the distributor use to go on the right side of the engine block. Is there anything special about...

No special rules or tools to replace. If you get a used part you will need to get a spacing shim that sticks to the end to correctly space it to the flexplate. Otherwise a new one should just unbolt and go right back together.

My 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo will not start.

cj2176 is correct, we need a lttle more info. Sounds like it will need a new fuel pump or something related to it. Since it starts on starting fluid it has compression and air and spark, just no fuel. Fuel pumps can just stop working while driving, and if not working obviously will not start. No caodes will be set for a fuel pump not working. If it cranks but does not start have someone pound on the bottom of the fuel tank with a fist or small rubber mallet lightly (don't damage the tamk) while your cranking the engine. If it starts, the fuel pump module in the tank is bad.

2002 Jeep GC Laredo: Starts up then stalls within seconds

Does the vehicle crank for extended period of time upon first starting? If so the fuel pump needs replacing.
