Noticed gear was not catching between 2nd/3rd gear until foot release slightly. So changed had transmission fluids changed. Problem continued today and now engine light has come on. Other than the jump between gears it drives well and is able to shift gears with no issues on the highway?

This is from Repair Pal...just Google your code (P0758) to find other helpful suggestions
OBD-II Code P0758 is defined as a Shift Solenoid B Electrical
The purpose of the automatic transmission is to match the engine's optimum power and torque characteristics to the driver's desired rate of acceleration and speed by auto-selecting different gear ratios or 'speeds' to power the wheels. Shift solenoid B enables the transmission to shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. It does this by re-directing the flow of the transmission fluid which changes the position of the shift valves in the valve body.
When the code P0758 is set in the Powertrain Computer, it means that the Powertrain Computer or PCM is not seeing the specified rpm change that occurs during a shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. It's also not seeing the correct increase in road speed from the vehicle speed sensor.
P0758 Symptoms
Check Engine Light will illuminate
Vehicle will not shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear properly
Decrease in fuel economy
In unusual cases, there are no adverse conditions noticed by the driver
In some cases, there may be performance problems and possibly misfire-like symptoms
Common Problems That Trigger the P0758 Code
Defective Shift Solenoid
Defective Shift Solenoid wiring or connector
Defective Valve Body
Dirty transmission fluid that restricts the hydraulic passages
You probably need a transmission pro to diagnose it properly, but it doesn't sound good. Was the original fluid you drained dirty brown? And did you see significant amounts of metal shavings in the transmission pan? The severe discoloration of the fluid is due to the clutch pack material wearing off and dispersed throughout the fluid. If the fluid smelled burnt, it is almost certain the transaxle is toast.
One thing that is rarely posted is any repairs and or instructions on doing so. For instance the Solenoid pack is often suggested as a replacement, and you can buy them on e-bay, but no instruction on how to replace one. Amazing. I can fix anything! Just take it to the Tranny Shop..... Makes me think that the only answers put on here are by Tranny Shops.
Change the fluid and filter and see if you notice any improvement. I had the same situation between 2nd and 3rd and after i changed the fluid (and put some Lucas transmission treatment) in the vehicle, i noticed a dramatic improvement
I had the same problem I changed the transmission fluid & put a new filter in the trans, this fixed it good until I put my foot down to overtake the trans kicked down to 2nd gear & the hold light started flashing again & the trans started slipping again. I stressed over it for a day or 2 & then I took it out for a drive & thrashed it, Low & behold it came right. When you change fluid its impossible to get all the old fluid out because the torque converter holds a liter or two under pressure, so when I put my foot down some of the gunk blew through & blocked the pump it looses pressure & cant change gear. You need to get it flushed by a transmission specialist
