What prompted you to change the CPS? Was the issue existing before and you tried to solve it with a new CPS? I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee that kept giving me a bad CPS code. I replaced it and the problem didn't go away. Ended up being the computer.
If the check engine light does NOT come on when cranking at the times
when it won't start, then your ECU is in need of repair. The engine will
only start after the check engine light comes on and the ecu is what
controls that. It's likely going bad, causing the delayed start problem
typical of early 90's jeeps. Repair or replacement services for your
jeep ECU are available on ebay.
You may have two issues, one with starting and
running while the other may be ignition lock cylinder related. You may
be able to try using the spare key if you have one otherwise its
recommended to have one made by Saturn and try it before determining
that its a worn out lock cylinder. Then Saturn may be the best choice to
at least configure a new lock cylinder with the original keys to match.
The lack of engine firing up may be a simple cps failure.
The engine turning over but never firing up may be related to the crank
position sensor (CPS) as long as you don't see the security light
flashing in the speedometer or tach. The security light flashing would
mean the factory anti-theft deterrent system is preventing engine
running by disablng the fuel pump. No fuel pump = no engine run.
Determining a faulty cps is by way of observation - the spark from the
ignition system is observed. Remove the spark plug wires, noting the
firing order carefully, from the coils and have someone crank the engine
over so you can watch for expected sparks across the coil towers. A
lack of sparks usually means a failed cps as the only other failure
would be the ignition module that the two ignition coils mount onto. The
cps is mounted behind and above the starter with one 10mm bolt. You can
buy it from any auto store stocking it.

when it stalls, can you hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key back on? If you can, then the pump is good and the wiring is OK. If not, check the pump relay in the power distribution center. Did either of the mechanics that advised you actually do any testing? Did you do any testing? Have you tested the crankshaft position sensor? It can give identical symptoms. To do proper testing you will need a chiltons manual (better than haynes especially for electronics) and a digital multi-meter. Check the cps both when engine is working and when it has stalled. (cam sensor can do that as well as ignition coil but cps is most common.)
is the security light flashing?it should go out when you turn key to run position after a few seconds..if it's staying on,check wiring near skim module(security system)small module under steering column covers..have seen broken wires near module..if not,try removing IOD fuse in underhood fuse block..this will reset skim module
You need to do four things: Replace the plugs and make sure they are the correct ones gapped dead on to spec (1 mm). Use lots of silicone dielectric grease in the plug boots when reinstalling the DIC over the plugs. Check the DIC Check the CPS (crankshaft position sensor). My money is on the CPS. The car may or may not start and run with a failing CPS (which is maintenance part, meaning it will fail over time). This, and the DIC, are known failure parts. The CPS is located on the right front lower corner of the engine block and secured with a single Torx screw (T27 or 30 IIRC). Finally, the fuel pump may be on its way out, but I hope not as it is expensive to correct. They are good for 100,00 to 120,000 miles.
