Check the distributor by letting the car run and tug on the wiring and see if the car acts up. Under the thermostat housing is a wiring harness, I've seen coolant drip on the connector of the O2 sensor and cause this problem too. The main relay is the switch you're referring to. It's located under the dash of the driver's side to the left. I've definitely seen these go bad. Use a test light on the hot wire to the fuel pump. Have an assistant turn the key in the "on" position and see if you have power there. Let me know what you found out so I can hopefully give you more things to check out. Send me emails to [email protected].

This vehicle from personal experience definitely has a problem with the MAIN relay that's located under the dash are right above the brake pedal. Its a brown box with a plug in it. I believe that's the problem its less than 100 dollars from the dealer its control the spark and the fuel on this car. Good Luck. Contact if you need more help. Thanks for using FIX YA

first check your fuses if the fuses are good then have some one turn the key on while you listen at the rear of the car for the fuel pump to hum while it primes the system. if you dont hear any thing and the fuses are good you need to look under the drivers side of your dash for a black box that is bolted to the dash frame called the pgmfi relay. turn the key on and feel if it clicks if it doesnt this is more than likley your problem.I have worked on hondas for my local dealer for the past eight years and this is a very common failure on the accords, acura legends, and rls. the sauder joints on the back of the relays get hot from long term use and deteriorate through the years you could take the cover off the relay and repair these joints with some eetrical sauder but the relay is only eighty bucks and it is way easier to just replace not to mention knowing that the relay contacts are new

There could be a few things causing this. When the car finally starts, is there any smoke coming out the exhaust pipe? White smoke would mean your headgasket is leaking and is letting coolant into the engine, then it is burned along with the fuel. Does the car run hot? Meaning has it ever overheated? Back to the smoke, if its black, your oil is getting in and is burning.
Now, the reason why it would be hard for a car to start, could be, a leaking headgasket, flooding the car while the car is sitting.
And yes, the car would be able to crank, but just wont start, for a while...because it has to get rid of all that fluid that has leaked into the engine while sitting at night.
Another thing you could look at, is your fuel pump, is it supplying a sufficient amount of pressure? If it isnt, it will take a while for it to pressurize and deliver fuel into the engine. You can check the fuel pump yourself by renting a fuel pump pressure tool from stores like autozone, kragen and more.
Your gas cap on tightly?
Good luck with your problem.
