Abs light and the brake light come on when starting the car and never turn off. Mecanic says the brakes are fine. What could be the problem?

It's probably a faulty ABS sensor /cable on one of the wheels.

If you take wheel off you will see wire going to back of brake with round gear with Teeth on it that's the sensor

It is not going to be a fuse. You need to get it checked out. If the fuse were bad the light would be on and it would not work at all.

The easiest solution is to locate the abs fuse in the fuse box. Remove that fuse and ABS is now disabled(this will trip you abs light), brakes will function normal but keep in mind you will lock the wheels up under heavy braking. Possible cause are bad abs sensors, or bad abs module. If you don't mind no abs then problem solved, otherwise take it to a shop and have a code pulled from the abs module to diagnose further.
