The A/T oil temp gauge, the emergency brake light, the radio flickered, and the panel lights were dim or flickering... as I was climbing a hill the car sputtered with gas in it. The thermostat did not register the car was hot, and I think that finally the juice left in the battery ran out when my car stopped. The starter restarted before the car finally succumbed to it's broken down state. The battery had juice to run lights and radio still...before it broke down. Could it be my alternator?

SOURCE: Lights are dimming, gauges are zeroing out while

If your battery is charge indicator light does not come on and battery is holding charge after a couple days of driving it is unlikely your alternator is faulty.
If the lights are dimming on youe meter cluster only, it could be a bad connector to the meter cluster.
If your head light are dimming it could be a bad battery connection or the alternator.

SOURCE: 1996 Toyota 4runner emergency brake light flickers on and off

Plan A. - You have a switch by the emergency brake that engages when the brake pedal is on or off. There is a small round switch like item where the pedal is pressed on. You will see a button, and this button is the switch and at the other end of this button are two wires plugged in. Unplug either one and the light filckering should go away. If it stops filkering then it is either an adjustment of the switch or replacement. Let me know if this does not take care of your issue and I will guide you through plan B

Brake Lights Dull or Flickering - All Cars

Dull or Dim Brake Light Repair: If your car has a dull or dim brake light it is dangerous to you and other drivers. A dim brake light is a mystery to most people because the bulb is working, just not correctly. First confirm a new and correct brake light bulb has been installed. Next, turn the ignition key to the "on" position and have a helper depress the brake pedal. With the bulb installed touch a grounded test light to the outer bulb holder ring. If the bulb brightness changes the bulb socket ground has high resistance and needs to be repaired or replaced.

Flickering Brake Light Bulb Repair: A flickering brake light bulb can be very distracting and annoying. A brake light flickers because the power or ground is being obstructed momentarily. The most common cause for this condition is a loose fitting bulb socket. To check for this condition remove the brake light bulb in question, while a helper hold their foot on the brake pedal move the bulb around slightly in the socket. If the bulb flickers replace or repair the bulb socket as needed to regain proper brake light bulb operation. If the brake light bulb socket tests ok wiggle the brake light fuse and wiring at the brake light bulb socket, brake light switch and turn signal switch (American cars). If the brake light bulb flickers repair the component or wiring as needed.
Preferred Procedure: Always replace brake light bulbs with manufacturers recommend replacement bulbs. If you cannot find the correct replacement bulb part number consult an auto parts store for additional manufacturer information.
Common Problems
When brake light bulbs are replaced with the incorrect bulb causing no or dim brake light operation
If the brake lights stay on continuously it could mean the brake light switch has failed or an adjustment is needed.

Oil light flickers when it warms up, when your stopped.

The flickering light usually indicates low oil pressure particularly at idle.Check oil quantity. How long since serviced and filter replaced. If these all good have your oil pressure tested with a master gauge. Some issues can be oil pickup slugged up or if high miler engine bearings.
