Thats very strange it could be meant to flush heater core keep it pluged and continue monitering. Good luck

Water leaking onto passenger side floorboard,soaking the carpet

Your heater core has developed a leak - the wetness on the passenger side carpet is engine coolant
from a heater core leak, or a leak in one of the two hoses connected to the back of the heater core.
Your strategy: disassemble dash down to heater core, determine whether you'll need a new heater
core or new hose (or new hose clamp), then replace the offending part.

That elbow goes to the heater core. Just go to a auto parts store, and ask them for a new elbow, remove and replace and everything will be just fine. The heater core controls the heat and cooling for the cabin of the vehicle.

Is there any fluid leaking onto the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle?

You may be lucky and it just the hose clamp that needs to be replaced at your heater core on the firewall. Might as well replace the heater hose if it is the clamp that has failed. There are two hoses from the firewall behind the engine, the other places that coolant would leak from are the frost plugs and at worst the intake gasket failed. Keep me posted and have my fingers crossed it's just a simple fix like a leak from the heater hose. Good luck

probably leaking heater core. you may have low coolant level now. the only place water comes in the cabin is for the heater, that has got to be it. the heater core can be bypassed (like my car's is) by simply cutting the hose that leads into the car and leave about a foot, make a big U out of it and plug the other side of the hose into the coolant passage that returns from the heater core and leads into the intake manifold. pretty easy you will need a knife, hose clamps, and common sense. the third one is a little harder to come by! :)

Coolant leak close to firewall from 90 degree rubber elbow. 93 pontiac 2.3 liter. It looks like there is a hose missing. Is this an overflow or am I missing a hose? If I am where does it lead?

hoses at the firewall connect the heater core inside the car to the engines coolant system.there are 2 heater hoses.the hose may have deteriorated or if the90* elbow has a clamp at the firewall end and is loose,the inlet tube of the heater core may be broken.use a flashlight for closer inspection.rapid coolant loss will result either way.

You can bypass the heater core, you just wont have heat anymore. On the firewall of the truck, behind the engine, you will see 2 rubber heater hoses that go into the firewall. They attach to the heater core. Disconnect them and get a plastic connector, and connect the 2 hoses together with clamps to hold them down. This will stop coolant from going into the heater core, and no more leak.

A rubber elbow coming out of the firewall is probably the a/c evaporator drain. However, the heater core could be leaking and entering the evaporator case and coming out of that drain. Are you sure coolant is coming out of that elbow and not plain water?

Where is the heater core hose in my 2000 ford expedition?

check closer to just underneath the firewall--it could be a smaller problem than a heater core--Ford 4.6--5.4 engines have a tube just underneath the intake manifold that the rubber hose goes bad and it will leak towards the back of the engine.Lets hope so-what i hear its very expensive to change a heater core in an Expedition.

That hose is the drain hose for the air conditioner evaporator. If it is leaking coolant, there's a good chance that your heater core is leaking, as it is in the same 'box' that the air conditioner evaporator is in. You'll need to replace the heater core.

If that elbow is very low on the firewall it is a condensation drain for A/C if coolant pours out of there I believe your heater core may be leaking. Do you smell coolant in the cabin? feel free to reply, I should be around most of the day...MK

I have the same problem, the inside is kinda funky when I life the carpet but I think most of it is leaking out of the condensation drain. thanks for your help I didn't know that's what it was called, it looked wrong to me having and open ended hose down there. thanks God bless-Paul Chavez
