Idle air control motor problem. First check for visible vacuum leaks a water gun sprayed in areas that would have vacuum on it would be good and safe to use while running of course. No.2 which is probably the problem. With the key off take breather off and spray throttle body cleaner directly into intake for a few seconds put breather back on but dont tighten all the way slide the straw piece in between breather and throttle and try find away to spray it in the throttle body while running vehicle may take 2 people one to start it and you to spray and hold throttle down some

Feb 1, 2012 - My Car 58 S3, as of last night decided to start revving whilst on idle, I found a clip ... I can do or is it going to be a trip to audi for them to pull my pants down! ... Lots of members all over the UK have VCDS, have a look at the VCDS .....and as the engine warms up it'll auto-rev to 1000rpm every time i sit at idle.

TPS wears in spots and can cause intermittent problems like you described. Try turning off the car and unpluging the TPS. Start the car and see if smooths out the idle/reving problem while the TPS is unplugged. If yes replace the TPS.
If you go to advance auto they will scan the car for free. if you write the codes down and update your question it will be easier to eliminate some of the sensors.
