DTC P1520: 1. Turn ignition off. Connect test mode

backprobe ECM connector B134 terminal No. 3. If voltage changes between zero
and 10 volts, system has returned to normal. Check for
intermittent open in wiring
or connectors. If voltage does not change between zero and 10 volts, go to next
step.
2. Turn ignition off. Remove main fan relay and
sub fan relay No. 1 (if equipped). Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter connected
to ground, backprobe ECM connector B134 terminal No. 3. If voltage is more than
10 volts, repair short to voltage in relay control
circuit. After repair,
replace ECM. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step.

1. Turn ignition off. Connect test mode
connector. See Fig. 2 . Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter connected to
ground, backprobe ECM connector B134 terminal No. 3. If voltage changes between
zero and 10 volts, system has returned to normal. Check for
intermittent open in wiring
or connectors. If voltage does not change between zero and 10 volts, go to next
step.
2. Turn ignition off. Remove main fan relay and
sub fan relay No. 1 (if equipped). Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter connected
to ground, backprobe ECM connector B134 terminal No. 3. If voltage is more than
10 volts, repair short to voltage in relay control
circuit. After repair,
replace ECM. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
3. Turn ignition off. Remove fan relay. Using an
ohmmeter, check resistance between main fan relay terminals. See Fig. 12
. If resistance is less than one ohm, replace main fan relay, then replace ECM.
If resistance is one ohm or more, go to next step.

4. If vehicle is not equipped with sub fan relay
No. 1, go to next step. On vehicles equipped with sub fan relay No. 1, check
resistance between sub fan relay No. 1 terminals No. 1 and 3. See Fig.
12color:black"> . If resistance is less than one ohm, replace sub fan relay
No. 1, then replace ECM. If
resistance is one ohm or more, go to next step.
5. Check for poor terminal contact in ECM
connector. Repair as necessary. If terminal contact is okay, replace ECM.
