Pontiac Vibe 2003. After a full stop of the car, there is a slow lowering of a pedal of a brake. At emergency braking the brake system works normally. Front pads and rotors are replaced, rear pads and drums are replaced. The main brake cylinder is replaced. Where is a problem? Thanks Sincerely yours Dmitriy

1 Determine which type of emergency brakes your Dodge Ram will need. Emergency brakes typically function by activating the regular braking system on the driving wheels. The emergency brakes for the Dodge Ram have used rear disc brakes since 2001.

2 Release the parking brake pedal completely and raise your vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel with a socket wrench and disconnect the brake caliper from the caliper adapter. Slide the rotor from the axle shaft.

3 Install the new brake rotor onto the axle shaft and complete the installation by reversing the removal steps.

4 Tighten the wheel mounting nuts in the proper sequence with a torque wrench until the nuts are torqued to 47.5 foot/pounds Repeat the tightening sequence to torque the nuts to 95 foot/pounds.

5 Apply and release the park brake pedal to seat and adjust the parking brake cables. Road test the vehicle to ensure the vehicle's brake system is functioning.

6 Place tool C-3919 or the equivalent over the park brake shoes and use the star wheel adjuster to lower the park brake shoes until the lining just touches the jaws on the tool.

All the lights stopping at the same time is not likely a fuse, it would be the brake light switch, the brake light switch is over the brake pedal near top of brake pedal arm under the dash. To test take a 12 volt test light ($5.00 at any auto parts store) and see if both side of the switch light the test light when the brake pedal is pushed, one side is hot with 12 volts without pushing the brake pedal down. The fuse location is in the owners manual but I am 99% sure that isn't the problem.

the traction control system works off of the abs system so there is a code in the abs module that needs to be pulled so you know were to start to check the system out.the service engine light is a different system all together and there is a code in the ecm that must be pulled so you know were to start to check to repair that system.you don`t say why you jumped to the conclusion that the gas cap set a code.the emergency brake light will come on if the e-brake is not all the way in the off position(something may be holding the lever up just enough to put the light on.the switch could be misadjusted and needs to e readjusted.

If you look under the van on the driver side (usually) you'll see where the two cables from the rear inter-connect with the main cord to the front. Here, you should find an adjustable bolt that you can tighten. If it is not here, it may need to be tightened from there rear tires.

If you have drum brakes in the rear, these are most likely "self-adjusting" brakes, which may interact with the emergency brake. Everytime you back up, and apply the brakes, you are activating the self adjuster (you would have seen this located at the bottom of the brake system between the two brake pads. This is the self adjuster. Try going in reverse at about 5 miles per hour, and hitting the brakes firmly (not slamming on them). Drive forward again, and firmly press the brakes. Go in reverse again, and apply brakes firmly again; (do this about 4 or 5 times to get the rear brakes adjusted). Try the emergency brake again and if still not tighter, purchase or look in your repair manual as to how to adjust the emergency brake.

This is normal. Cruise control is supposed to cut out if driving conditions drastically change.

I believe the 94 Sunbird's have rear emergency brakes. The rear brakes are drum brakes and it's very hard for them to lock up but should slow the car down to a stop and hold it from moving when at a stop.
The way they work is, the emergency brake cable pulls on the one of the brake shoes to the brake drums on each side so you only have 50% of your braking power to start with.
If your brake's are not holding when it's at a stop position, the brake shoes are warn or glazed over and need to be replaced. 
You can try adjusting then by backing up a few times like say 7 times and giving it full brake application. That should adjust the brakes if the self adjusters are still working.

Vibes have had a number of problems, so this could be one of them. These brake systems are ultra-sensitive to contaminated brake fluid - make absolutely sure they completely flushed the system and replaced the brake fluid when they replaced the master cylinder.

Hi, May be worth checking the switch at the brake pedal could just be that its sticking slightly, if you try the cruise control out again just flick foot under brake pedal and lift it up to make sure not holding any pressure on switch.
