Question about Pontiac Grand Am
Could be a number of things. First I would check electrical. When you say the car won;t start do you mean it has no electrical power? (no lights, radio, starter doesn't crank etc). If so then the main power wire off the alternator may have touched ground and you blew the maxi fuse or damaged the wire. Did you see or smell any smoke coming from the engine area? That is where I would look first. Don't just change a fuse without finding what caused it to blow. Let me know so more info and we will figure it out.
