I have a 96 eclipse spyder that the speedometer hasn't work on since I got it. I recently found several wires behind the non factory radio. 3 small (orange, red, yellow) and a large blue wire marked VSS. And 2 wires coming from above the radio I belive were coming from the little red light. Mine never came on. Can anybody tell me where they go? The factory radio harness has been cut. If possible I need a complete color code chart for ALL the wires in that paticular harness

SOURCE: Changing the front speaker 2001 Eclipse Spyder

There are 7 screws all together to remove the door pannel. First, you have to take off the hanlde for the door. the 2 plastic covers on the handle pop off revealing 2 screws on the top and bottom, remove those. then behind the the door handle on the inside, pull it as if you were to open it and there is a screw that you have to remove. Then there are 2 screws on either side of the door pannel, both are farily close to the top, remove those, and then its just a matter of popping the pannel off. start from the bottom, pop it off then slide it up. becarefull, after the door panel is free, there is a connection for the power doors and windows unhook that then the pannel will be free. after that the speaker will be right there and its common sense on removing that. good luck.

SOURCE: speedometer quits, loss of power steering

first of all, the power steering pump doesn't stop working and then start working usually they are just bad. second of all it shouldn't take 3 hrs to change speed sensor, and last the vss could cause all symptoms, if the car has variable assist steering the speed sensor could effect this

SOURCE: 96 Accord VSS or Speedometer Head?

The "needle at 20MPH" is a sure-fire indicator -- it's the speedometer head. This is a common problem in this year.

I haven't found a fix other than replacing the speedometer head, sorry.

How to hook up 97 eclipse speedometer

is the gauge cluster wiring cut? There's only what's left of the wiring down by the steering column? All I can say if that's the case is good luck. That's a lot of splicing in a new connector.

Sounds to me that you'd be better off finding an Eclipse turbo if that's what you want instead of trying to Frankenstein the heck out of this one with an inoperative dashboard.

I have 96 chevy monte carlo the speedometer wont work

The problem is the radio change wasn't done properly. The first indication of that was when you said

"they changed the factory radio it and when you turn off the radio the speedometer works"

Other factory things commonly run through the radio even though you may not expect they would. I don't know what your wiring is like now. Did they hack the factory plug off? If not, it should be relatively easy to put the wiring back like it was. You could then either get a factory radio for that car cheap. Salvage yard, maybe ebay, maybe a friend has one laying around etc. You could seek out a proper wiring harness made to put an aftermarket radio in. Crutchfield is a great place to search for special harnesses.

If the plug has been hacked off and you just have wires hanging, you'll need to figure out what is what. Again, if you go to a Salvage yard (junk yard) you might find a 96 Monte like yours with a factory plug you could hack off and re- wire to your car. I will include a diagram showing that the speed sensor input is part of the radio circuit as well as a link to Crutchfield. I'm trying to give you options so you can pick the one that works best for you.

I purchased a used Jensen UV10 from a friend and installed it in a 97 eclipse spyder. I recently bought a 2003 chevy silverado 1500hd LX, and took out the aftermarket JVC cd player to install my Jensen....

Depending on the model, the Silverado may have an amplifier between the OEM radio and the speakers. If that is the case, you will have to remove it and wire directly to the speakers. Check the wiring schematics for the original truck radio option (one source is Alldatadiy.com).

01 eclipse spider top and rear windows do not work

All three wire showing 3 it should be all 4 wires, In the back of the rear seat is the convertable top module, the yelloow black wire should go ground to bring it down.Other than that a new module will be needed, this gets its command from the window main switch so see if yellow/black wire switches over

2003 eclipse spyder gt. display window on the infinity stereo doesn't illuminate.

unfortunately the backlighting on these radios is not serviceable, you can attempt to have someone repair the radio, but better off getting a new factory one, wrecking yard one, or going with an aftermarket unit

Had amplifier nd radio tested and they work. still get no sound!

Have you checked the fuse. Open the drivers door, and right there at the edge of the dash is the fuse panel cover. Remove it. You will see relays on the left and bottom, 3 rows of fuses in the middle and 2 30 A fuses above that. ABOVE that behind the wire harness is another 4 fuse block. The fuse on the upper right is for the power amp.
