What do the codes 34 and 42 stand for for a obd 1 scanner for gm

GMC (USA car?)
I have just 2 guesses
car clock?
1: scanner is super old and not any good for GM.
2: fuse blown to OBD2 scan port on pin 16 of car. this in turn causes can tool to overload the cars , serial ports at the other DLC,pins 1 to 15.. (pin 2 must not be abused by the tool odb2.)
the PIN 16 fuse (DLC) on this CAR is marked CIGAR in the fuse box
and 15amp rated. and is hot at all times (yes key off too)
PIN 2 goes to all brain boxes in the car. and OBD2 pin 10 pair
SAE J1850 Bus (GM like pin 2/10) to do communications.
a 2008 scan tool is best or newer, for sure GM factory codes certified.

Sorry to say, that is one of those GM cars that is difficult to retrieve trouble codes without special scanners. It was on some '94 and '95 GM luxury or upscale models (your LeSabre was one), where they put in the new diagnostic connector that became standard on all cars built after 1996- and called OBD-2 (for On Board Diagnostics, second generation). The problem is, your '95 model is typical of all early '90's cars and trucks equipped with the OBD-1 system. It only has 2 digit trouble codes, and there are not a lot of them, only about 2 dozen in total. The whole system is OBD-1, but the diagnostic connector is configured like an OBD-2 connector.
Some shops might have the scanners necessary to work on your car, some with high end scanners. Of course, GM dealerships would have the right testers, but they are outrageous in prices.
I would try to find someone who could get the codes for you. What you describe sounds to me a lot like a bad Mass Airflow Sensor, or MAF sensor. That is just a guess, though, and why I recommended you try to see if there are trouble codes. There should be at least one.

With key in on do you have all dash warning lamps on, and the check engine light is on? If that's all okay, and still nothing on the scanner, it is possible the wiring to the diagnostic port got messed up. You would need a wiring diagram to really see the wires involved. By the way what year is your vehicle? All after 1996 have the same obd-2 connector. There were some variations leading up to the '96 model year. I recall some dismayed GM owners of '94 & '95 models, especially luxury class models, that had obd-2 connectors and obd-1 diagnostics, same as all the early '90's GM vehicles. Back then, GM and Chrysler were always a step ahead of Ford, beginning in the early '80's. ! enough nostalgia, did u figure it out with your scanner?
