try replacing your pcv valve on your engine,it's called positive crankshaft ventilation valve. if it's clogged,your engine will use oil more. also you may do an oil change with good oil and oil filter with an additive. use 30weight castrol oil in cold weather,40 weight in hot weather,always use a fram oil filter,they will not break down like the cheap ones you get at a quick oil change place. add a quart of lucas oil treatment to your oil change,this will add about $11.OO to your oil change price but well worth it in the long run. i have a ford 94 explorer 4x4 4.0 with over 400.000 miles on it no problems with motor at all! just trying to see if i can do a million miles. trust me when i say you can not go wrong when you purchase your own oil,and filter,and the lucas oil treatment,then WATCH your mechanic change your oil as needed!!!! thank you for choosing fixya.com and if you need further assistance,please repost your questions to fixya.com!

If your just going to recharge it and nothing was replace, no need to add oil, freon will have some oil, if you replaced the a/c compr. before installing the hoses to compr. add oil into compr.

I have a 2001 Expedition, I don't have air bags in the front, the compressor don't work the air shocks. You have rear leveling. When they replaced the (compressor) did they turn the leveling switch back on. you may have air shocks connected to the compressor. Did the rear go down right after or over a couple of days. If the switch is on, turn it off and jack the rear up quiet a bit, make sure both side are quiet equal with each other, like it would be if it where raised by the air bags. Turn your level switch back on with it jacked up or sitting on stands. It may have went down so much that the compressor can't raise them back up.

Hi .. I just ran into the same problem .. I have a 2000 Expedition with the 5.4L engine .. the low side port is located on the passenger side of engine compartment just below the black metal bracket that contains electrical connections right in front of the firewall... you have to reach under this and locate the low side (larger line) and feel for the connection .. it is right in front of the accumulator .. There are two heater hose that hide the port .. you have reach under these to unscrew the port cap which is black .. you'll have to do this by feel .. I have found that you can by R134A charge with dye and leak sealant helps with small leaks .. if the system takes more than two cans be usre to add refrig. oil .. hope this helps
