Replace it. They can be rebuilt. Find the rebuild kit first. Buy the basic tools to do it. Then you can rebuild any of they. I buy kits for GM, Ford, Dodge, and some imports for around $30. Way better than $150+ for the rebuilt rack and pinions.
Throw away the auto liters and get yourself four champion spark plugs. Champions work in chryslers, auto lites/motorcraft work in fords, NGk for Japanese, ac delco for GM's, Bosch for European.
Follow ow those rules and you will likely never have a drivability issue caused buy the wrong spark plug.
THAT COULD BE PISTON RING OR PIN NOISE.ALSO TIMING CHAIN MAKE NOISE ON A HIGH MILEAGE ENGINES.YOU TAKING A CHANCE TO BUY A VECHICLE WITH THAT MANY MILES ON IT.
I Had a dodge ram that did that wouldn't start.. I had to buy a crank position sensor.. I don't know if fords have them but worth trying out. or it could be fuel pump is week..which is common. I hoped I helped..
