Where is the starter relay on a 1998 Monte Carlo located

It's not called a starter relay , it's theft deterrent relay and it's controlled by the theft deterrent module.
When the ignition switch is moved to the START position (and the theft deterrent module recognizes the key code), battery voltage is applied to starter solenoid (through the theft deterrent relay). Both solenoid windings are energized. The circuit through the pull-in winding is completed to ground through the starter motor. The windings work together magnetically to pull in and hold the plunger, which moves the shift lever. This action causes the starter drive assembly to rotate as it engages with the flywheel ring gear on the engine. At the same time, the plunger closes the solenoid switch contacts in the starter solenoid. Full battery voltage is applied directly to the starter motor, which cranks the engine.

I have a 94 camero just replaced ignition starter switch but when I turn the key to start position I get nothing no click nothin wat else could it possibly be?

Is that why you changed the ignition switch in the first place ? No crank - no start ? Did you check the park neutral switch ? Is there a theft light lit ? Theft deterrent relay ? You have to know how it works if you want to fix the problem . When you turn the key to start , the B+ power goes through the park neutral switch for automatic transmissions or the clutch start switch for manual transmissions , to the theft deterrent relay , to the theft deterrent module . If there is no anti-theft system problems the theft deterrent module energizes the relay ,closing the contacts inside sending B+ voltage to the S terminal on the starter solenoid . Go to www.bbbind.com/ for free wiring diagrams an check it out !

1997 Pontiac Firebird, will not crank. Changed fuel pump and the relay, now the security light is coming on and injectors will not engage...HELP

On my '97 Camaro, the first thing I hear when turning the ignition key is the fuel pump run and the fuel rail pressure up. .
First thought is, manual cars must have clutch depressed and auto cars in Park or Neutral to enable cranking. If these inhibit switches are faulty then that could be your problem. Had an old 5-speed manula Pontiac Fiero with a faulty inhibit switch. I just bypassed the switch with a piece of jumper wire. Just had to remember to ensure car was in neutral when starting!!
Do you have a shop manual with wiring diagrams? The Haynes manual schematic covering both Camaro and Firebird diagram shows a theft deterrent relay between the starter key switch and the main starter solenoid mounted on the starter motor. This relay actuating coil has a volts feed on one side of the coil from the inhibit switches fitted to ensure the car is in Park or Neutral for Automatics or the clutch must be depressed for manual cars. The other side ot this relay coil is grounded via the Theft Deterrent Module.
There is also a further fuse. Number 16, a 3 amp fuse labelled "Crank fuse" that is labelled as going to the Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module. Not sure what that is but with the fuse labelled "crank fuse" it sounds important!! it may be linked to the theft deterrent module but my manual is not clear on that.
If all the fuses are OK then I think the problem lies in the anti theft system.
To bypass the anti-theft and enable cranking you could simply break the yellow/black wire from the theft deterrent relay and ground the relay coil. (cut the wire and connect to ground / chassis, the bit going to the relay not going toward the anti-theft module) Turning the starter key should then apply volts that are coming from the transmission inhibit or clutch inhibt switches to the coil of the theft inhibit relay. This relay then pulls in and applies vots to the main starter solenoid and so enable cranking. The starter solenoid should be heard as a solid thunk as it pulls in. Small relays as a tick.
If this works then wire in a hidden switch in this ground wire to act as a unique anti theft device.
However if the vehicle control electronics are also fried then you will still have problems.
Hope all this is of some help and best of luck.
Cheers, Brian. (Over in Manchester, England, Europe)

Security button to resetm pass key is located where?

your vehicle is equipped with Personal Automotive Security System (PASS-Key II(R)).
This security system is designed to prevent vehicle theft by disabling fuel system and starter unless an ignition key with a specific electrical resistance is used in the ignition key lock cylinder. PASS-Key II(R) system operates using sensing contacts, which are located in the ignition key lock cylinder. These contact a resistor pellet located in the ignition key. When lock is rotated, battery voltage is applied through appropriate fuse and resistor pellet to theft deterrent module (except Century), or body control module (Century). Pellet resistance is then compared with programmed value in the theft deterrent module or Body Control Module (BCM).
System components include ignition key, ignition key lock cylinder, theft deterrent module (except Century) or BCM (Century), theft deterrent relay and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PASS-Key II(R) system can also be supplied as a special equipment option on some vehicles

It will reset itself after about 10 minutes. You just have to wait until you hear a click and the pass key light goes off.
Be sure to clean the little metal strip on your key while you're waiting...

Camaro 1995 v6 3.4 dont move whit the key in star position, all light ok,battery new, stater new all allrelay news, where are in the car the theft deterrent module?,this car have the antitheft sistem. ...

The theft system is controlled by the BCM (body control module), located behind the glovebox. BCM codes and igniton key module codes must match. Did you have make sure the code generated by the key is a match for the BCM , if not the car will not start. Pellet in key is a resister that has to match the resister setting in the BCM. It is not the keyway module that starts the car,,it is the BCM.
