I would take it to a parts store to figure out what the trouble code is.Most of them will scan your car for free. That is always a good place to start.
Just cause the belt looks good doesn't mean the timing didn't jump. Could be a sensor. Did you have a service engine soon light or check engine light? Could be a weak coil and still have spark. Do you have a fuel shutoff switch/cable under kick panel or in trunk? May be that also.
Sounds like you make have a vacumn leak on one of the rubber vacumn lines that attach to the intake manifold. Check all of these lines and look for cracks, pinholes and lines that have colapsed.

The code points to bad switching (oxygen sensor) but that is not really the problem. It is the MAF sensor
Sounds like a service engine soon light. Check owners manual for reset instructions. On our 99 Mercury , you had to push a combination of buttons on the trip computer / fuel economy select buton.
