well amoust the same problem I have my keys , replaced the stater and a new batter just die one day, the wire under the driver to the steering look like one of the mine wires arent together come frome under the car hood to the steering wheel is this wiire a ground and where does it go? not sure what wrong thing it wireing to the itignition, has power but wont turn over, 1989 pontice firebire? any know what wrong or what to do? sb thanks

If you want a quick way to fix it run a wire from your starter in to the car another from the battery into the car and get a start button its quick easy i had the same problem.

If code 53 involves the PASS system for your car, the chip in the key has failed, or the sensor in the lock cylinder, or the control module. The anti-theft system disables the starter and the fuel injectors. You could bypass those circuits to get the car started.
Some of these anti theft security distress can shut offfuel to the injectors. This might be what's happening. Check out this link for info on the security system. There is a way to bypass the entire system. Right now you have bypassed the key and ignition part, but the TDM (theft deterrent module) is still there. there is a way I've seen it done but never have done it myself. That "chip" is like a resistor for the anti theft system. When I asked the guy how he bypasses it, he stated, "I find the correct resistance needed, then add a resistor in line so that it bypasses the ignition switch." This way the orginal keys will work even if they don't have the "chip." Now the vechile he did that on he still had the key with the chip. The chip or ignition cylinder wasn't contacting each other so it would sometimes run and sometimes wouldn't. So I don't know if he tested the key or if there is a different way. I know this isn't much help but I KNOW it can be done.

also try turning on ignition wait 10 min then start it should reset comp to except key but also check the manule
