When car is at operating temp both heater pipes should be more or less the same temperature. If one is cold, try getting the car up in the air so the radiator or expansion tank is higher than the heater...release (carefully) the pressure cap and give the engine three good revs, see if any air comes out and heater pipes equalise. I there is no air in your system you may have a heater water valve fault. Try to locate valve and see what contols it (mechanical , electrical, vacuum)..maybe itcan be manually moved to open, maybe it neds to be replaced.
If you replace it, the air must be bled from the cooling system (see above), but run car until warm with cap off and air will bubble out.
always check coolant levels later when car is cold. Top up coolant as required.

The system defaults to defrost when it has no vacuum supply from the engine. check the plastic vacuum line from the engine intake manifold to the heater control panel. Especially look at the rubber hose that connects the line at the engine. If that;s good, follow it thru the fire wall and see if there are any tees, etc where it could leak. Listen for a vacuum leak at the mode control switch. Could leak at the connection or inside the switch. Please let me know if you get stuck or have any questions.

Make sure the heater core is in the open position by using the shut off valve and turning it to open. next, you may have a malfunction in the direction door the directs the air flow in the dash. a lever may have become lose or separated. may be a bad servo motor not directing the door to move to the heater position. i would start by checking that shut off valve first on the heater core.

that switch controls a vacuum operated door that lets a/c or heat thru.when accelerating,the vacuum in the engine changes so it sound like a vacuum issue.take apart the center stack and there is a vacuum actuator in there connected to the flap door .i have seen those have issues with the metal tab broken away from the plastic that moves it.is the a/c piping cold under the hood where it goes into the heater a/c assembly?the compressor should be cycling on and off and the pressure tested.
