You can check fluid level by removing the rubber plug in the cover. Fluid is full when on level ground, it is just at the edge of the hole (or very close) if you are already getting noises out of there, you can remove the cover and inspect gears for wear or breakage. If you find a large amount of metal debris in the lube it tells you something bad is going on back there. Although rebuildable, it's not a home job...requires exact settings in order to operate properly. You can find good units far cheaper than even a gearset costs in any scrapyard. to match ratio, count the teeth on the ring gear and the pinion gear. the replacement MUST have the exact same number. Before swapping diffs, check all back there to make sure noise is not from somewhere else.

SOURCE: heater blower makes loud noise

You need to lubricate the 2 bearings on the motor. Takes about 30-50 min to take the area under the hood apart to get to it. It is in the housing underneath the Wiper assembly. Go to benzworld.org or peachparts.com for possibly pictures on how to do that.

Should be under the passenger side dash it will be a round electric motor mounted in the environmental station. More than likely it has a stick or leaves in it, remove the screws holding it in to clean it out. Hope this helps, let me know

Loud noise when a/c and defrost are on

I would check the fan motor for the heater sounds like the bearing is going out. Does it scream and then go quite or rumble if so it is probably the heater fan. It will run and blow air but it will make a lot of weird noises. If you shut the fan off and the noise goes away it is the fan.

Our 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee's heater/air

My fan was stuck on low. I looked at the control module in the dash. Some of the contacts had over heated and melted part of the module. Our dealer said it was a $300 fix.

I have a 1988 jeep cherokee and it has a loud squeelling noise and small amounts of smoke that come out of the defrost vent any thoughts?

Sounds like the fan motor is shot...or the fan impeller itself is rubbing on something...more than likely..the motor is shot and you will need to replace it

My fan hits and does not turn, ans when it does turn it makes loud noise I have a 1995 jeep cherroke.

Remove whatever it is striking and either fix or replace it. Fix any damage to the fan that might have been caused, or replace the fan if damage is severe.

Heater not working

First check the heat control lever from on end to the other. Now this noise really 'sounds' like a mouse has made a nest inside the heater ducts. Or the flip door near the heater fan is out of place. It wouldn't hurt to flush the heater rad. Frankster016
