Intake manifold gaskets, a chronic problem. Parts are cheap but its a days work.
Possibly a vacuum leak
A vacuum leak can cause the motor to high idle for a few seconds. While the motor is running use some carb cleaner with the tube attached, Give a short spray at focal points to do with vacuum. Example, the hose connection at both ends of the hose from the intake to the power booster. Short sprays at any vacuum lines you can access, both ends. Also a short burst at all intake runners at the head. And anywhere vacuum might access the intake behind the throttle body. You'll know when you find it.
