Also, how do you hook up the steering column for 1992 Pontiac Bonneville SE?
Re: Need to see diagrams of the figs. 3-6 from a...
My son came down and figured it out for me. Not sure what all he did but he had to make a few modifications by splicing the wires together after cutting the wires just under the dimmer switch...then a few adjustments were needed to get it to all work right. Thanks

This is a common problem for the turn signal switch itself. Try used. You will notice in the instructions to remove the steering wheel. Don't. The removal of the ignition switch is also not necessary. Remove the screws at the bottom of the column where it shows and take a screw driver and pry the other side up to see the 2 screws (torx, or star bits) to remove. This will only take about 20 minutes to perform.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the 4 retaining screws from the lower column shroud and remove the upper and lower shrouds.
Remove the 2 retaining screws from the multi-function switch and unplug the 2 wiring connectors.
Remove the switch.
To install:
Install the multi-function switch.
Tighten the 2 retaining screws and attach the 2 electrical connectors.
Install the upper and lower column shrouds. Tighten the 4 retaining screws.
Connect the negative battery cable.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the ignition key and tumbler as follows:
Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
Push the lock cylinder release pin with a suitable punch while pulling out the lock cylinder.
If equipped, twist off the tilt wheel handle and remove.
Remove 3 steering column shroud retaining screws and remove the upper and lower shrouds.
Remove 2 self-tapping screws that retain the combination switch to the steering column casting. Disengage the switch from the casting.
Detach the electrical connectors, being careful not to damage the locking tabs and the shift position indicator cable.
To install:
Connect the combination switch electrical harness connectors ensuring that the connectors are fully engaged. The wiring for the switch is to be routed under the shift position indicator cable.
Install the combination switch with 2 self-tapping screws. Tighten to 19-25 inch lbs. (2-3 Nm).
Install the upper and lower steering column shrouds. Install the retaining screws and tighten to 9 inch lbs. (1 Nm).
If equipped, install the tilt wheel handle ad tighten to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
Install the ignition key and tumbler assembly.
Connect the negative battery cable.
Check the steering column and combination switch for proper operation.
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Properly disable the SIR system, as outlined in Chassis Electrical of this repair guide.
CAUTION
Some models covered by this information may be equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system, which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SIR components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SIR, as described in Chassis Electrical .
2. Remove the reveal cover and upper trim panels, as follows:
Remove the reveal covers by prying them up and carefully pulling forward.
Remove the fasteners, then carefully pull the upper trim plate up and remove the sunload and twilight sentinel by turning 1 / 4 turn.
Remove the upper trim plate.
Fig. Fig. 7: Exploded view of the upper trim plate - 1995 Buick shown, other years similar
Remove the information center fasteners, then remove the center.
Remove the lower instrument panel trim plate by carefully prying it out.
Carefully pry out the air deflectors.
Unfasten the fasteners, then remove the instrument panel trim plate.
Remove the passenger inflator module.
Remove the knee bolster/deflector.
Place a protective cloth on the steering column to avoid scratching. Lower the steering column.
Unfasten the instrument panel fasteners. Pull the instrument panel slightly rearward.
Detach the electrical connector, including the antenna cable. Disconnect the vacuum line.
Carefully remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.
Fig. Fig. 8: Exploded view of the instrument panel and related components - 1995 Buick shown, other years similar

If it is an auto trans with column shift, that switch is on the steering column, above the brake pedal, close to the floorboard. Might need to lower the upper end of the steering column where it bolts under the dash to get to it.
The signal switch inside the column under the steering wheel is broken. To remove that, I'd recommend that you get a chilton or haynes manual and follow the directions EXACTLY so you don't trigger the air bag. Pretty sure the part is under $100. and it's not terribly difficult to do if you work carefully and make notes so you don't forget anything.
If equipped with an air bag, disable the system as outlined in
of this repair guide.
If not done already, disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the steering wheel, as outlined earlier in this section.
Remove the shaft lock cover.
Remove the shaft lock retaining ring using a suitable lock plate
compressor tool to press down the shaft lock. Dispose of the ring.

If equipped with cruise control, remove the housing cover end
cap, unplug the cruise control connector and gently pull through the
shroud, bowl, and steering column housing assembly.
Remove the washer head screw, the hex nut and dimmer switch.
Remove the mounting stud and ignition switch.
If equipped with cruise control, gently pull the connector
through the steering column housing assembly, bowl and shroud and
connect the plug.
Install the housing cover end cap and screw and tighten to 17 inch lbs. (1.9 Nm).
Install the ignition switch and mounting stud and tighten the
stud to 35 inch lbs. (4.0 Nm). Adjust the ignition switch by moving the
switch slider to the extreme left position and then move the slider 1
detent to the right (off lock).
See Figure 1
Fig. Fig. 1: Ignition switch adjustment procedure
Install the dimmer switch hex nut, screw, and tighten to 35 inch lbs. (4.0 Nm). Adjust the dimmer switch.

in. drill bit into the hole above the actuator rod. Force the switch upward then tighten the screw.
See Figure 2
Fig. Fig. 2: Dimmer switch adjustment procedure

are too long could prevent the column from collapsing on impact.
Install the lock cylinder and retaining screws and tighten to 40 inch lbs. (4.5 Nm).
Turn the key to the RUN position.
Install the buzzer switch assembly.
Install the turn signal switch and retaining screws and tighten to 31 inch lbs. (3.5 Nm).
