Soory but theres no adusting the rocker arms, you would need to remove the cover and check for worn cam or rocker and replace the worn ones, this engine doesnt use lifters the rockerarms run right off the cam, hope this is helpful.noisy lifter are they adjustable - 5eef8be.gif

Noisy lifters

its either worn lifters, rocker arms or camshaft lobes.Try to adjust the valves or add a bottle of STP oil treatment to your oil and that should help reduce the noise.

Sounds like teppets are noisy

you could need valve clearance adjustment or need oil and filter change oil is dirty.causing dirt particles stop up hydralic lifter bleeder holes stopping lifters from pumping oil.or lifters worn out.and oil passages in engine block restricted with sludge.

Looking to adjust valves on a 2.2 chevy motor in a Corsica hydraulick lifter

Sorry but there is no valve adjustment with hydraulic lifters - can turn the lifter upside down fill with oil - let sit for a while and then tap on the lifters to see if they make noise - if noisy replace.  Camshaft may be worn on the lobes or may have jumped timing if belt.

Hi i have a ticking noise in my vg30e pathfinder, i believe it may be a hydrolic lifter, what are the adjustment specifications

The lifters on your vehicle would not be adjustable, so depending on mileage, a lifter could need replacing. Listen to this sound to determine if it is at engine speed, or at camshaft speed, which is half as fast. If at engine speed, it could be any number of things. If at camshaft speed, it couild be a broken vavle spring, a sticky valve or a noisy lifter.

I have a 89 ford ranger with a 2.9 v 6 and the lifters are tapping it has good oil pressure .

Very common problem, some 2.9L were mechanical lifters that required adjustment, others have trouble with the hydraulic liters being noisy.

Do the valves need periodic adjustments in a 1999 Chevy suburban and how many valves per cylinder

The valves never need adjusted, .Do to hydraulic lifters and zero clearance. The rocker arms are torqued to 35 ftlbs. So you never have to worry about it.If there is a noise have your lifters checked:)

My friend just got a 1988 ford ranger  v6 2.9L and has a valve tap and was wondering what different kind of ways he could fix this

if its an ohv type the most common fault is that the oil ways to the rocker shafts become blocked
so get some flushing oil drain the oil and replace with the flushing oil and run for the time stayed on the can then Change to good quality oil and new filter
then remove the rocker covers and check and adjust the valve clearances
if its an ohc type its all hydraulic adjustment
you could try flushing as above but apart from that the only other way is to change the lifters and followers
hope this helps

Noisy lifters

Unless you have adjustable rocker arms the only way to get rid of noisy lifters is to replace them.
