I have a 2003 GMC Sierra and starts after 3-4 attempts to crank. when I turn the AC the idle drops really low to where it almost dies. When I place it in gear it dies. I have replaced the battery once and it seems like it is killing my replacement. I replaced the fuel filter, all the spark plugs and wires. I also got the fuel system cleaned. I have a K&N cool air intake installed but this did not happen until months after being installed. a friend says it's the fuel pump or the air control sensor. I'm stumped any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Check the throttle position sensor it is used to adjust the idle when the engine is cold. The ECT switch by the thermostat outlet will sometimes send the wrong signal to the computer and tell the engine the temp is higher than what it is and that can also cause problems. Hope this helps. I would also check the cat and muffler and be sure the exhaust is not restricted. If it is then back pressure will not allow fuel to be drawn into the cyl. properly. Put your hand on the exhaust pipe and it can give you and idea if the exhaust is partially plugged or restricted. Hope this helps.

The battery could be your only issue here.Your engine management system will not work well under about ten volts. You battery may have low reserve. Try a new battery as it sounds like you will need one anyway.

SOURCE: low oil when engine warms up gmc sierra 1995

30-40 psi of oil pressure is fine for many vehicles including your GMC. I am assuming that the truck has more than 100,000 miles on it and still has the original engine in it. By rule of thumb you only need 10 psi per 1000 rpms in a typical street driven engine to give adequate oil pressure to keep the bearings from oil starvation. The oil pressure is typically higher when initial start up occurs because it is more viscous due to the temperature of the oil as the engines oil warms up the visconsity thins out and the oil flows more smoothly. The drop in oil pressure is a normal occurance. Above 45 is more than required for a daily driven street engine. I believe that the specs on that engine only list 30- 45 psi.

SOURCE: 1992 gmc chevy 350 wont idle when warm

This could be a number of things but i think that your problem sounds like a vacuum leak or an EGR problem. Try listening for leaks and try un-plugging the EGR solenoid valve one time.

SOURCE: Misfires 96 gmc sierra 5.0

I suggest you have the injectors tested by the dealer, the sludge buildup will not cause a miss fire. to clean the throttle body use carberator spray while holding the engine idle high.

I have a 2004 gmc sierra 4.8 truck for 3 years it idles down too low and dies at red lights stop signs or when you let foot off gas but put in neutral and it cranks back with no problem, Why?

First off is the check engine light lit ? Do know if Your vehicle has Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) drive by wire -electronic throttle control . It's all electronically controlled . They do get problems like your having because the throttle plate needs to be cleaned !

2000 gmc sierra 4.3 eng will start and idle but won't accelerate, it dies when pressing the accelerator.

You need to test the fuel pressure with an accurate gauge. This engine is very pressure sensitive. It has trouble even running if the pressure drops below 55PSI.

You should not see any voltage after the 2-second prime until you actually start cranking the engine. If you don't see power on the grey wire when cranking, try jumpering across the fuel pump relay terminals

I am having a voltage issue with my 2003 gmc 1500hd 6.0L. I replaced the battery last week and had the alternator checked this past weekend and it checked out fine. Problem: At idle speed the voltage drops...

No. It is a bad alternator. When they test the alternator they turn it at faster rpm. When it turns at faster rpm it is charging fine. What the problem is the voltage regulator in the alternator is going bad. When you turn your blinker on I bet the voltage shows on the gauge. Moves up and down with the blinker.

Rough/Low idle then dies.

is your check engine light on any longer ? also has your throttle plate ever been cleaned that can cause this symptom it will get build up on it and not allow correct idle ,you can clean it yourself ,rmove the big hose that goes up that goes up to your throttle body and get a can of deep creep sold at any parts house ,then spray the deep creep on a shop rag and by hand wipe out as much of the flap areas as you can ,its hard to get your fingers in there but be patient . but dont spray any thing down in the throttle throat it may cause more problems ,try the wipout of the throtlle area and see if it help your idle !
