2006 Grand Prix, I had an issue about a year and a half ago ( July 2009 ), I started the car, it was dark out , in a lighted parking lock. High beams only would work , both flash pass mode and on high beams. Turned off ignition and restarted several times, same issue, drove home with high beams. Next day the lights operated fine. 2-3 weeks ago, driving in dark out after 25 minutes low beams shut off , I pulled over turned off the ignition and restarted. They turned back on and continued to operate normally. This week , driving in the morning, just before dawn, after 40 minutes the low beams shut off ( high beams worked ), I drove to work ( no head lights, but with parking and tail lights ), an hour later I started the car ( was light out now ) , no low beams, I put the car in drive , no day time driving lights either , manually turned on lights still no low beams, high beams in flash pass and on high beams worked fine. 3 Hours later I have driving lights again and low beams again in manual mode. I did over ride the auto mode and turned it on manually , the low beams still did not turn on. I also pulled out the low beam relay under the hood and plugged it back in, it didn't do anything to turn the low's on. Thanks for your help !

Common problem, there is a headlight relay in the power distribution center under the hood that needs changed out.

SOURCE: High beams work but low beams do not. Fuses seem to be good

Hi

I would start with the dimmer switch if you know the lights are good dimmer switches do this you will lose your high beam or you will lose your low beam when they go bad.

you need to disconnect your headlight switch if they go out your switch is faulty, if they stay on you will have a headlight relay fitted somewhere, look in handbook, disconnect relay if they go out relay is faulty. hope this helps.

Took it to the dealer and they replaced a switch. Part of the recall - no charge. Thank you.

SOURCE: 2006 grand prix low beam headlight do not work,

I'm having the same issue. I have changed the bulbs and fuses. I can't find a relay but I don't think that is the issue. Some other people have suggest the Dimmer Control Switch. I am working on that. Please let me know what you find out.

Replace headlight on a Pontiac Grand Prix

The Grand Prix uses separate bulbs for low beams and high beams. The low beams are located on the outer edge of the headlight assemblies while the high beams are located on the inner edge of the assemblies. With this in mind, locate the position of the burned out bulb prior to replacing it.

2007 pontiac grand prix headlights are not working correctly. High beams work but not low beam. nothing works on automatic. Low beam bulbs have been replaced. Lights worked for one day, then back to not...

I drive a 07 Grand Prix and the low beams randomly went out. Could not get them to come back on, but all of the other lights worked (inside, parking, and high beams). found a forum online that recommended replacing the fuse/thing at location #35 in the fuse box under the hood. It worked immediately!! Got the part at Advanced Auto parts for $35 dollars.
