Can't find where to reset the "change oil" message on 2005 ford explorer (eddie bauer)
Turn ignition on. Don't start the car. When the message shows up press setup. It will tell you to press reset to reset the oil life to 100 %.
Hi g700,
Out of the menual -
1. Select this function from the
SETUP control for the current
display mode.
2. Press the RESET control to reset
oil change.
Best of luck,
Eitan.
While your car is on press the setup button a few times it will ask you if new oil hold down reset and the light goes away
You should be able to turn the key on dont start the car pump the gas pedal 3 times with the key on but the car off... try that cycle once or twice if it dont work the first time for you that should shut it off for you..
You push the reset button for 5 seconds.
No...not helpful at all really awful .
No...was not helpful
Obviously, if you are not able to understand the simple instructional help of pressing the SETUP BUTTON and hold it till it gets to the resetting mode, then release it and then pressing the button until you see the change oil section, you are not smart enough to do it and should have a professional person do it or at least someone who is smart enough to understand this basic fix.

Almost every time I get an oil change at Ford - they forget to reset the light. The dash reset alone does not do the trick. There is a sequence of steps to reset the oil light so that you do not turn off an annoying but helpful warning. The answer for this is not in the owners manual and my dealer has one of the service people do this, but even they have to do it more than once to get it right. Not all answers are in the manual.
