A/c clutch I have a 98 contour svt. I need to replace the clutch on the compressor but need to see what all is involved and what tools i may need

Do you have a performance problem or an emission problem? Who is telling you your cats are bad and need to be replaced? Of course the average converter lasts about 10 years so yours could be not as effective now as they were new. Any good muffler shop can replace them.

Check the clutch for slipping. If you are in gear and the engine revs but you go nowhere then it is a safe bet the clutch is at fault. Check underneath that the slave cylinder is retracting fully into the cylinder. push on the arm to do this. f it is not it will be the clutch m/cyl that will be faulty. If everything is fine then the clutch assy.has failed and has to be replaced.

Put it up on a rack and inspect the clutch, it may be gone.

You are better off replacing the whole compressor.
The special tools required, and the risk of possible
damage to the compressor, along with the extra labor
involved, make a used or rebuilt unit the way to go.
This is how most repair shops resolve a bad a/c clutch problem. Hope I was helpful.

Yep your Compressor clutch has gone bad.
You can either change the whole compressor, or just have the clutch changed on the compressor.
You are better off having the whole compressor changed; by the time you pay the labor to have it taken out, clutch changed, and reinstalled, you could have just paid for the new A/C compressor.

yes it could well be the transmissioin seal. is the fluid reddish? Go to a transmission shop and have them put your car on the rack to take a look see.
