Sounds like a rattling noise is a bearing going bad to me.

If disconnecting the belt gets rid of the rattling, I would check for binding or loose pulley bearings.

Hello Kia Sportage 2012 2.0 diesel When idle there is a rattling noise from under the bonnet mostly from pulley area. It goes away when I push down the gas pedal even a little bit. Any idea? Thanks

Check the Alternator pulley, it may have a 1 way clutch in it and has seized up, the idea is to give less stress on the drive belt, they are getting very common now

Loud rattle sound when Idling

I suggest you have your car checked as soon as possible - while a rattling exhaust isn't desperately urgent it could be the cat breaking up which might later restrict the flow of gases. Most importantly excessively loose timing belts or chains tend to make most noise when the engine is idling. If the noise is being caused by this delay could be very expensive.

My dodge ram 2500 cummins is making a rattling noise when its idling

Depends what the rattling is really... If it's the engine , could need a valve adjustment... I've also heard of torque converters make a rattle when going bad, but only when in drive or reverse

Battery light turned on. Lost power steering and AC.

You broke your serpatine belt. Needs replacing. It's a $50ish part and easy to do if you have a diagram under the hood of how the belt fits. But if it was "rattling" for a couple of weeks take it in for crying out loud. Let the mechanic look it over to make sure your lack of vechile care didn't destroy anything under the hood.....

Engine rattling

Hi, First of all if you are talking about the 2 fans in front of the radiator, they do not come on until the engine warms up and gets to a certain temperature. As far as this rattling noise, I would have someone help you by giving it gas as you try and locate the noise. It could be something loose not related to the engine. I am not sure about the rough sound you heard, but I would keep looking for it if this continues.
