So my car repair doesn't cost more than my car did?
Replacing the timing belt, if you're mechanically inclined, is not a bad job at all. Haynes has a good step by step instructions for your car. The only problem you'll have is removing the balancer bolt. It's on there tight. If you decide to do the job yourself, email me and I'll tell you the trick on removing the balancer bolt without the use of an impact gun. I do this trick on all the Honda's I change the timing belts on.
So what is the trick to getting the balancer bolt off of a 1996 honda accord non v-tec so i can replace the timing belt

I planning to do the same thing and I've gotten quotes from my mechanics in my area from $499 to $803. I'm hoping I can do this my self. Is there any special tools needed?
