Sounds like one of the speed sensors are bad. It has an input speed sensor and an output shaft speed sensor. You need to have the TCM scanned for codes to see if one of them is bad.

Testimonial: "Excellent information. Got it right on the first try. Thanks very much."

Thanks for the quick response. I don't believe it is the output sensor. The speedo still works fine and I believe that the output sensor controls the speedo. Which sensor on the front of the tranny is the speed sensor? I know one of them should be the neutral safety switch but there are two other sensors there as well.

It actually has two speed sensors on the front of the trans and a Speed sensor on the rear for the speedo. The speed sensors that are on the front are halfway up on the trans. The two above the lip of the pan are the Neutral switch and the reverse light switch. The input shaft speed sensor is right above the solenoid assembly. The output shaft speed sensor is at about the same high but out but the drivers side wheel. The vehicle speed sensor, that runs the speedo, it in the housing that the passenger side cv shaft slides into.

Transmission is slipping when gets warm I have 07 focus

miles on the box , 250,000 miles up?
didnt scan the OBD2 port for errors, why skip scanning it.
so all gears slip even R and L (PRNDL)
drive shifts all gears but all gears slip if loaded too hard
or upshifts to any gear FLARE , a.k.a false neutrals.
or Drive stuck on 1st gear.
the warmer the fluid that more the seals leak inside and add up to, too high
and then slips. the end of life of A/t boxes end like that (no other failures)
scan it next,
never skip the scan,

fluid does not smell burn
fluid does not look like tar
fluid level good. hot engine, idling, in park
L>>>>>>>x>>>>>H
fluid lever about here.

1988 Dodge Ram 50 Automatic shifts into park reverse and neutral. But physically won't go into drive gears.

Disconnect shift cable from transmission linkage and try to manually put transmission in drive gear ( make sure wheels chocked/park brake on ). If transmission goes into drive gear, suspect a shift cable or shifter assembly problem. If you can't manually shift into drive gear by hand with cable disconnected, suspect internal transmission/shift linkage issue

The transmission shifts fine in drive, but when going through the geers, Park works, Reverse acts like park, Neutral acts like drive, Drive works, 2nd and 1st work. Any Ideas?

Hi Ken:
Sounds as if the linkage is out of adjustment. Did something specific happen to cause this to start to occur? If you look at the linkage, there will be some point where you can shorten or lengthen the rod that attaches to a lever on the transmission. One way will make it better, the other will make it worse.

What engine? Rear wheel drive ?Sounds like shift linkage or cable out of adjustment slightly. Have a look at where cable or rod attaches to transmission for adjustment. If not sure of what your looking for get back to me with info.

1996 Corolla Auto Transmission problem

Hi. 2005 Corolla CE. It's normal. They tend to do this when upshifting form 1st to 2nd gear. No timing chain readjustment needed.

96 Corolla. Overdrive not working properly, if not engaging after 45mph constantly. If driving on the city, is normal, but not after 45mph, when the car is trying to engage overdrive in order to save gas and preserve the trans gears. If not able to get help at the dealership, find another one and explain them the situation.
