the speedometer does not use a fuse, it uses a gear driven cable, it it has failed you either have a broken cable or a stripped gear at the transmission or the cluster is bad
At the risk of going to the offensive, sometimes it's the simplest thing - you ARE putting it in neutral, at a stop, engine running, with the brake pedal pressed, when trying to shift out of 4wd, yes?

Sometimes this works, ABS light on, check engine light on, speedometer not working, and the automatics start shifting hard or not shifting at all? One bolt and the part is cheap, its weird how one part controls so much.
On most cars, there is a vacuum operated actuator that shift tranny into 4x4. Sometimes this actuator can get faulty or the circuit to it can get faulty. Other types have just the circuit operation which can become faulty. It should be placed on a diagnostic machine to determine if the system is faulty or if it is just a bad switch.
did they plug it in after they fixed it .my dad truck they fixed the wire but did not plug it in afterwards so that meant the did not even test drove it after to see if it worked or anything
