Correct fuel pressure? EGR stuck open? IAC dirty/stuck? Throttle blade hanging open preventing IAC from working? Yune up issues?

Need to define what Trouble code 1001 for a 1998 Chevy Silverado means

the bcm or something about it has been changed there is a scan tool
that can fix this, thats the only way i know to deal with it

Same problem here, found break in wiring harness at cross-member behind cab. did have bed removed for easy access. Ground wire guilty party.

Dead battery. Charge it or jump it. Sometimes you have enough power for some lights, but not enough cranking amps to start that big V8.

I have a 1998 chevy silverado and now when you turn the key on, all of the service lights come on and stay on. What is causing the problem?

The igntion switch is staying on, it could be either out of adjustment or the switch is bad.

What do you mean by it won`t stay on that it turns over and won`t start or starts and quits right of way?What motor?

'99 Chevy Silverado hissing sound under the hood.

You may have a disconnected or broken vacuum line. With the engine running, open the hood and try to locate the noise.

2005 chevy silverado won;t start.

i had the same problem, and it turned out the coil pack was moulding inside wich stopped the spark all together, i ended up changing my coil pack and putting on new wires because the ends connected to the coil were very corroded and that cures the not running part just fine

if you can keep the engine running by lightly stepping on the gas pedal then take a look at your IAC, it controls your idle speed. sometimes you can just clean it out with spray carb cleaner.

if the engine will start, run for a few seconds ( less than 5) then die as if it were out of gas -change the crank position sensor
