Stereo in a 1998 mercedes benz c230

I just bought a used benz and there are a few minor items that need fixed. One is the stereo. The screen on it is blurred and you can no longer read the digital letters and numbers so you press buttons blindly. The speakers are bose and it sounds great if I could only see the screen I could choose a station adjust balance and fade, treble, bass, and what nots.

SOURCE: Ballpark price on 2007 Mercedes Benz C230 Maintenance B

The dealer near me charges $365 for a 4-cyl, $395 for a 6/8 cyl, or $425 for a 12-cyl. The only actual repair/maintenance you get for that price is an oil change (with Mobil1 and the MB filter, which are CRITICAL, ~$120 on its own) and tire rotation. This makes a lot of people think it's a scam, but really, it's a little steep, but definitely worth doing. The rest of the service consists of a massive inspection of your vehicle covering the following items.

-- Fluid levels
-- Tire tread/pressure/wheel condition
-- Air filter (inc. clean out housing)
-- Cabin air filter (inc. clean out housing)
-- Lubricate sunroof rails, locks, hinges, and seals on body.
-- Drive belt and tensioner
-- HVAC system operation
-- Instruments, cruise control
-- Wipers/washers/lights/horn
-- Windows/sunroof operation
-- Hoses
-- Transmission fluid
-- Brakes
-- Chassis/suspension
-- Driveshaft, inc. flex discs
-- Road test
-- Reset maintenance light

This is actually pretty essential to do, despite seeming like a lot of money for not much work. I have very rarely done one without catching a few things that the customer needs, and often it was a problem that would have gotten far worse had it been left to its own.

SOURCE: Mercedes-Benz Transmission Fluid question

the transmission on your MB is sealed with no way to check the trans fluid level,(no dipstick provided for) that is why the report says "sealed". MB did this to stop customers from overfilling there transmissions, which can cause severe damage if not done properly at the correct fluid temp, this requires special test scan tools.

Starter motor on this car is imposible to get to..better find the post forward of the drivers side fuse box in the engine compartment where a bunch of wires come together. This is a positive terminal attach red jumper here put the negative jumper on any bare metal bracket of the engine

Question moved to Mercedes Benz C230.

It is the lines in the rear hatch glass. There is a connector the bottom and a plug in the back of the radio.

I replaced the battery on my c230. now I need a stereo code. How do I get it?

On my Jaguar XK8 I was able to call the dealer service department and have them look it up on the computer using the VIN number. Realize they don't want to do this, they want you to bring the car in to make money. I told them it was not in my owners manual (which it wasn't) I guess I convinced them that when the car was originally bought they should have put the code in the book! I told them my Porsche had the code in the book (which was true)..Good luck!
