The following steps must be completed before using the symptom tables:

  • Perform the following if a horn buzzes or has a harsh tone:
  • Inspect for debris in the joint where the horn fastens to the vehicle.
  • Test the torque of the horn mounting hardware. The horn mounting hardware should be tightened to a torque of (7 lb ft) .

2005 chevy malibu classic.... theft warning light coming on and not allowing car to start..... best solution?

Let the car sit undisturbed for 10 - 15 minutes, then try to start it. Check the owners manual if you have it. Sometimes, on various cars letting them sit awhile will allow the system to reset itself. On others sometimes rapidly turning the key from off to on, without turning to start 3 to 8 times within 10 seconds and then on the last turn to the on position leave it there until the horn chirps, at that point turn the key directly to start, or turn off first and turn to start. If all this fails, a GM dealer can reset the system.

I have a 55 plate VW Golf 2.0 Fsi - the alarm keeps going off by itself! We disconnected the battery last night (to get some sleep!) and it's started again today.... agh, HELP!

You probably have a faulty door, boot or bonnet lock.If you put the inside light switch to the setting for the light to come on when the doors are open, close all the doors and see if the light goes off.If your model golf has a display on the dash,it shuold tell you which door is open.It could also be a faulty interior sensor or a faulty alarm horn.A diagnostic machine will be able to tell you which was the last alarm activation.

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Classic and my horn just stopped working about a week ago. I noticed first that it didn't sound when I activated my alarm, then confirmed it when someone cut me off in traffic and I...

it usually shares a fuse with dome lights and/or radio you may have other electrical accesories not working; also the horn itself could have quit working
