Thanks Mike, but, since this is a 94 I thought it would be prudent to replace the hoses at the same time as the water pump. Replacing the bypass hose is a joy as it is buried beneath the air conditioner compressor. I found that the bracket holding the air conditioner compressor and alternator could be lifted to the passenger side while maintaining most electrical and coolant connections. Once moved there is finally enough room to replace the bypass hose, and properly clean and install the thermastat.

My 1992 Jeep Grand Cherokee makes a high pitched wining noise when I first start it in the morning. It seems worse when the temperature is cooler. It's a 6 cylinder with about 190,000 miles on it.It's had a...

It sounds like a loose serpentine belt. Check the belt for cracking or frayed edges. It may need to be replaced or simply tightened.
If the sound is minimal or gone when the engine is idling, and you hear it whine when you step on the gas, then the belt is probably your issue.

My jeep grand cherokee started overheating at idle

try the water pump - first - make sure the radiator is really full - take the cap off cold and fill - if it looks full - start and run 8 minutes or so - then fill it up - look at ur fan belt - is it tight - tight is about how much pressure u use to make a firm hand shake with little movement - any movement over about an inch is loose - when the jeep warms up the belt can slip and not even make a noise - - new materials don't always squeal. - then be sure ur water pump is ok - they go slowing - the fins wear down - one more thing is the radiator - u don't say how many miles or what maintenance schedules you have or not so that's it for now

Tp fuel pumps from same year different wireing

What you brought is an tank and unit from 1995 JGC. from 1993 till 1995 they have the same fuel pump. 96'er Jeeps start with OBD - Systems and they have other fuel pumps. You can't change the plug ins, because you may have other fuel filter in your Granny. Check filter and fuel lines if they fit with the unit you brought. If not, you need another unit from a real 96'er Jeep
