One day my son drove his 2000 Blazer to school turned it off opened the rear hatch. He then returned and tried to start it. I met him and jumped started the Blazer. My wife drove the Blazer home and turned it off. I tried starting it. It started fine. The next day the Blazer started fine, was driven to school and it happened again. This time I replaced the battery because the auto store said that the battery only had 440 cranking amps. The next day my son drove the vehicle approx. 2 miles. The Blazer cut off and would not restart. The starter would hardly turn the engine over. About 12 amps were showing on instrument panel. Do you think the starter has a short is is there something else that is causing the problem?

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer and I can get the Rear Hatch to open but the tailgate won't come down?

Hi, check your lift supports or the hinges. If they're dented or bent, they might let the hatch open but not come back down.

Here's a link with a picture of the locations of the lift support and hinges. I hope this helps.

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazor, Ran fine, drove it yesterday. Jumped in it today to head to work, and it will not turn over. It trys to start but will not fire.

First try extracting the codes from the ECM using an OBDII code reader. The codes will likely point towards your problem.

Car will turn over but won't start

The most common defect is the ignition switch on GM models that utilizes similar ignition switch. One symptom will be the dash will flicker and the engine will buck and then when the ignition is turned off theres a No-Start condition.
