check to see if the other starter you put on drained your battery that is usually what the click means is that the battery doesnt have enough juice to make the starter turn your engine over its just got enough to make the starter try to engage and as soon as the load of the engine is put on it cant do anymore, so check your battery make sure its has a good charge. if your battery is charged and you still only get the click noise then you need to make sure all your connections are tight and are making good metal to meatal contact so that the electricity can flow through it all properly and the voltage from the battery can get to the starter
Eather your bendex is not kicking out from the starter into the flywheel, Or it is possible you have a few teeth missing on the flywheel. Most likely it is the starter bendex spring not engageing
Do you get a fairly loud 'click' when you try to start the engine? If so, the starter solenoid contactor is likely defective. I repaired our '96 Caravan solenoid by building up the worn out bolt head with silver solder--worked great. If you get no click at all, check the neutral safety switch on the transmission. Hope this helps!
i cleaned battery post wires off but when try to start it will click a few times and then start
