What brake ststem do 2001 silverados have? rear brakes

Have you checked the master brake cylinder reservoir for brake fluid loss?

I don't suspect the master cylinder as you have replaced it... but am more suspect of a leaking brake line or fitting which should have
been discovered when you had the system bled.

The only time I ever had a rear brake problem with a 2500 series Chevrolet was due to seized rear brake caliper guide pins...as your calipers are also new that is not your problem.

If your brake pedal feels spongy and travels to the floor board you have air in the system, a brake fluid leak or a failure in the power steering system, such as a broken hose, broken power steering pump drive belt, or failed pump, would result in a loss of pressure to both the hydro-boost and steering.

check brake pad. it must drum fitted.

YOU HAVE REAR DRUM BRAKES YOU NEED TO TAKE THEM APART CHANGE RETURN SPRINGS AND CHECK WHEEL CYLINDERS ITS ONE OR THE OTHER

This will be in the rear,right?The rear are what gives you brake pedal height,so check the rear,this is the most likely cause.

the front rotors are warped,usually because the rear brakes are out of adjustment,causing you to over work the front brakes,change rotors and pads,check rear brakes if you need more help get back to me Thanks Ray,Please rate my fix as i strive to be the best

you can take a tape measure to do so or it should be stamped on the area where it mounts to the hub, stamped in. probably in millimeters(MM).

need a torx 55. must remove caliper in the bracket then remove the caliper. Bracket bolts are 17mm I think.

When bleeding brakes after the system has been opened for service (you didn't say if you were doing any work on the master cylinder) you should start with the farthest wheel away from the master cylinder, which is the righ rear. Fill the master cylinder, then have an assitant "pump up" the brake pedal. Tell them to hold it down firmly, then open the bleeder on the wheel cylinder(s). Do not release the brake pedal until you have closed the bleeder valve again. You'll know when the air is out - there won't be any more bubbles. Since this vehicle is 2001, this would be a great opportunity to flush the system. Just make sure you have enough brake fluid (DOT 3 or 4, depending on your vehicle). Good luck!

Take the top off your master brake cylinder to relieve pressure. You may have over-pressured things if you didn't take the cylinder cap off when you compressed the rotors. You said pads, so I assume they are rear disc brakes.

Bad sensor in one wheel, they are part of the wheel bearing. Could also be a bad abs computer module, either way, not cheap.
