My Acura TL ?96 started having problems when the D1 and D2 positions of the gear were illuminating in the panel all the time. Few days later, the car would start when in P but need to use the Shift Release to move the gear. Later the same day the car won?t start in P so I need to use the Shift Release to move the gear to N and start the car. Also the key will stay stuck on the starter. I took out the plastic cover to check on the shift interlock solenoid because it stopped making the release sound when I press the brake but it seems to be working fine when jumped with a battery. The brake lights are also ok. Now the car will only start after moving the gear back and forth until the N lights up in the panel. The R light will start when in D and the car seems to jump from one gear to the other wildly. This had happened in the last four days and is getting worse. Any suggestion of what can be happening? Thanks in advance.

Car can shift into all gears but the vehicle doesn't move at all. No noise, no leaks, no movement.

SOURCE: 96 acura tl 3.2l is overheating+signals wont work

Start with the easy one (hopefully). You probably have to replace your turn signal flasher. It's located behind the dash, driver side of steering column in the relay block (just pull out to remove).
Your overheating problem: Are you losing coolant, or is the car just running hot? Any leaks, puddles?
Check the cooling fans to make sure they are kicking on as the engine temp rises. If not, you may have a bad switch that is not telling the fan to go on. If fan(s) are operating ok, check the thermostat. If it isn't opening properly, it could be the cause of the overheating. If you have a leak in the system, then when it gets too low, it starts to overheat. Many possibilities, So, let me know the answers to the above so I can help further if needed.

1995 Nissan Altima Stuck in First Gear

1. check transmission fluid level or if you can change the fluid & filter.
2. check throttle position sensor (tps).
3. if fluid level & tps are ok & still not upshifting automatically, temporarily (so you can take it to a transmission specialist) , try to manually shift. starting from dead stop, shift to D1. at about 25mph shift to D2. (be gentle on the accelerator & don't over rev on each gear. release accelerator pedal & don't step on the brakes while shifting from D1 & D2).

Honda accord speedometer drop to zero

You may have a problem with your IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) which often can be exchanged for a serviced and warrantied replacement unit.

First thing I would try...disconnect the battery for 10 minutes which will allow the on board computers to re-start.

If this doesn't help... I would retrieve any stored codes the on-board computer has logged which may provide a starting point to diagnose your trouble.

IN THE SNOW PROBLEMS GOING UP HILL

As to any cars, when it snow, and going up hill there will be promblems, best way for the tl is turn on the vsa, put it in a low gear, like d1 d2.... and slowly press on the accelerator. Best solution is to stay away from hills until road has been trreat. Remember your Tl is only 2wd drive front wheel. It won't be able to handle like a 4wd or awd.

Automatic transmission with shiftronic periodically when going into Drive goes to D1 or D2 on the console, stuck in low gear. A few days later the issue may go away. Just had the transmission rebuilt in...

dear friend-it looks like you have a dirty valvebody that is sticky,i would say that you can first try a additive to clean the valves and body,if no joy then you will have to remove the valvebody but take special care when stripping it.

Cooling system problem

Had same problem with my 3.2L TL in 90C+ air temps last summer (2008). Dealership found an easy fix after much investigation - they hosed off debris that had built up on outside of radiator. No problems since, and the cleaning also revitalized the air conditioning which had been operating poorly.
