Check if your car has a speed sensor located in the diff rear cover if so from memory early face lift xj40 models used that sensor for the cruise only signal . the speedo signal came from the abs circuit. does the speedo fail at the same time? the sensor in the diff used to change spec when the oil increased in temp whatever sounds like the speed signal is at fault, blue wire i think at the seed control module good luck

If the car is a 2000-2003 then first of all by disconenecting the battery you sometimes have to reprogram the heater control panel. This is done by running the a/c fans on hi and temp on lowest setting, then press and hold the temp settings to hot and continue to hold 10 seconds after it reaches max, then back to cold and hold for 10 secs, back to hot and hold for 10 secs then back to cold.
If this does not fix the problem then more and likely the car is going to need a heater control valve which is located on the right front lower corner of the radiator.
In replacing the heater valve you should also take off the heater pipes (quick connect) going into the heater matric and flush the system through, the system with time gets clogged and can prevent the coolant to flow freely and can also damage the heater pump assy which is next to the heater valve.
Hope this helps
Thanks and good luck

vacumn pressure for your cruise control will be 14.2. Connect a test hand held vacumn pump to control modual and then drive the car to see if cruise control works in any way. Plus, when pumping vacumn to madual, check to see if throttle linkage moves.

I would check the ABS sensors on both sides. Those are wires that fit on all wheels to give signal to the ECU for proper functioning of the car. They might just put back the old ones for you . and they should have ben replaces

Hello chinds, did you replace the fuel filter also, if you did not you should.
The fuel pressure will normally be about 32 psi at idle. It will fluctuate as a
function of engine vacuum. It will increase under acceleration and decrease
under deceleration. When you shut off the engine, the fuel pressure should hold
around 30 psi. It's pretty normal for it to drop off very slowly but should
maintain a pretty good pressure at least until the engine cools off. If it falls
off immediately, your fuel pressure regulator or the non return (check) valve in
the trunk could be a problem. If your fuel pressure does drop off, you can
remove the air cleaner and turn on the key then when you reach inside the Air
Flow Meter and push the flap open, a set of contacts will close in the Air Flow
Meter causing the fuel pump to run. This will pressure up the system. As you
release the Air Flow Meter flap, clamp off the feed line to your fuel pressure
gauge. If the pressure still falls off, you need a fuel pressure regulator. If
it doesn't, you need a non return valve.
I hope this helps, & good luck with your Jag.
