Hi my Opel 1.4i gamma don't start if I try starting it back fires petrol filter is fine new one on feul is fine what problem can that be thanks

Has it ever been tuned up? If not it's time for plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor if used, it sounds as if spark is jumping to the wrong cylinder.

2002 santa fe is jumping fire from top of coil under plug wire boot any suggestions

The rotor cap is most likely cracked. A new rotor cap will fix it.

Ignition mystery! 1994 GMC Suburban 2500 5.7 mtr. No spark to spark plugs. Have spark from coil to distributor. Have changed coil wire, cap, rotor, ignition module, and coil. have 12.5 volts going to...

I guess you could have the ignition analyzed on an oscilloscope. Maybe a tech could see something then.
I always heard the only gap was the spark plug gap-the rotor has no gap-are you sure you got the correct rotor? And does it touch the top distributor cap coil wire tower?

Let us know. It is a mystery worthy of a solution.

Back firing thru intake, tune up done-new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. timing good, firing order good... 5.8l efi

check your plug wires again and check the cap and rotor sounds like either a bad cap and rotor or a couple wires backwards

Timing appears to have jumped 180 deg. How do you

Check to make sure that the timing mark is there when #1 is TDC.Leave the wire on #1 cylinder and place the plug on somethig metal .With all the other plugs removed bump it over until #1 sparks. I would think that maybe the roll pin that holds the gear to the bottom of distibuter may have shered .This would cause issue. The cam and crank sensor will not make your timming off 180Deg.Timming chain will. But 180Deg I would think not.Where is the #1 cylinder when it is lined up in the cap? Make sure that you can't turn your distributer.Don't think you can turn it that far without removing it.

98 chevy s-10 wont start

real comon starting problem for these is moisture in the cap and rotor and plug wires. replace cap, rotor, and wires. while you have the cap and rotor off check the two vent holles in the base of the distributer to see if the screens are plugged. be careful with the srews that hold the cap on the distibuters are plastic and will break.
