Amplifier I have a 2001 Spyder Conv. GT with the premium Infinity Sound System. The amplifier (Model # MR400692) was damaged from a water leak. I want to replace it with an after market unit (that will also fit under the front seat). I can't find any specs on the original unit so I don't overpower the speakers. Any help would be appreciated. I know it's a 210 watt system but I think that's a combined wattage. Norm Greenough

#2 Amazon has a method by which one may input their auto's info, and you may search for anything automotive which is capable of fitting. Remember...and I am currently refining/ changing my entire sound system for my 2001 GT Spyder, and Crutchfield has people who you may discuss your needs, and they advise. However, their cost is normally higher than Amazon and providers, so perhaps give Crutchfield the issue, let them offer the solution, go to Amazon and price out the needed items, go back to Crutchfield, and offer thier last right to refuse to compete.#2 Amazon has a method by which one may input their auto's info, and you may search for anything automotive which is capable of fitting. It depends on whether you have the standard audio system or a premium sound system. The standard system has no factory amplifier, the premium system has a factory amp and some other gimmicks that are hard to interface with. A proper OEM amplifier upgrade will require changing the factory speakers with stronger replacements, as well as adapting the factory head unit output to a signal your new amplifier will like. More often than not, it is more economical and better sounding to just change the factory speakers and run the replacements off your factory system. To drastically improve the sound system, it is more effective to just change everything.
Sounds like your Gr Caravan has the premium sound package. You likely haven't hurt anything - but you may need to modify the wiring a bit. The speakers have a tweeter speaker in the center of the main speaker and the wiring goes through that. However, it only worked with the premium package. Go in to the speakers and move the wiring connections from the tweeter to the main speaker. Your other option is to replace the speakers.
Yes, the Infinity Gold series audio systems have a separate amplifier. In my '97 the amplifier is located under the drivers side rear seat.
Note that the amplifier is set to have speaker level inputs as opposed to regular level inputs. Both the amplifier and the speakers are NOT easily mixed and matched with after market components.
This is very common to occur when these vehicles have water leaks. There is an amplifier located underneath the passenger seat which has gotten wet and shorted out.
The amplifier will need to be replaced to restore audio.
