Re: Need to replace front engine mount and probably the...
I just randomly checked over on ebay and there are 780 service repair manuals for hyundai between 2 and 180 dollars and 35 for the subaru outback between 2 and 15 dollars. perhaps there are some for dodge as well. if you can afford to buy gas you can buy a manual at those prices.

The focus has so many engine mounts and transmission mount failures. Check the trans mount under the aircleaner assembly for cracking and excess movement when placed in gear. I dont recall front mount but if theere is movement it is best to replace them all at the same time. The trans mount and right engine mount are the easiest to replace. But for forward and backwards movements and noises replace the front ( if applicable) and rear engine mounts.

With car in drive/reverse and foot hard on brake if the engine moves when gas pedal is depressed and quickly releasedin both D&R, then that mount/mounts is defective...
Engine mount should be replaced if:
1) The hard rubber surface is covered with heat check cracks.
2) The rubber is separated from the metal plate of the engine mount.
3) The rubber is split through the center of the engine mount
The transmission case will crack or break if either engine mounts or transmission rear mount is broken...Here is a GM Service bulletin addressing the issue:
#02-07-30-024B
The transmission mount (see drawing) test:
>Raise and support the vehicle
>Raise the transmission/transaxle in order to remove the weight from the transmission/transaxle mount and create slight tension in the rubber.
Replace trans. mount if anyone of the three conditions listed above exist...saailer
On a lift is the easiest way because you will need to raise and support the engine while the motor mount is replaced. Once you have a new mount, I would replace both while you are at it, the procedure will become self evident. Not a difficult job.
Actually this can be done at home in your driveway in a couple hours max. Raise the vehicle on jack stands and be sure to set the parking break and block the rear tires. Then use a block of wood and a floor jack under the pulley to raise the motor just enough to take the weight off the mounts. Both the front and rear mounts are attached to the same cross member and you will need to do 50% of the job of taking out the front mount to get the rear mount out and visa versa so it is worth it to replace both if you are going to do one. Remember not to tighten them down more than snug until after the weight of the motor is back on the mounts. There are torque specifications in the front of your repair manual. Of course if you have a lift great, but for most of us do not think that you cannot do this simply because you don't have a lift.
It sounds like you have had several engine mount failures. The engine/transmission is supported on each end by * a mount on the engine front to the body * a mount on the top of the transmission to the body
These two support the engine L to R.
There are also mount(s) to stop the engine rolling back and forth. These are attached to car front and rear sides of the engine block or on the transmission bell housing.
I suspect that another mount other than the one you have replaced is broken.
If all the mounts are in fact OK, then you have another issue. Mounts don't just fail for no reason. You may have an axle with a failed inner CV joint. If this jams, then very high rotational loads are passed into engine mounts. A failed or locking CV will often produce steering wheel virbration or clunking noises.
The motor mounts are common failure points on these cars.
In particular, the transmission hanger mount and rear rollstopper mount are the worst for failure rates.
The front rollstopper is 3rd most common, and the front engine mount is least likely to fail (rare).
The mounts range from 75-125 each and require about 2.5 hours to change all four. As I said before, the front engine mount is very unlikely to need replacement though, the other 3 are likely the only ones you will see damage on.once they are removed.
