there is a good possability that either the button contacts are bad,the very thin wires are broken or the contact area of the horn ring that the circuit using is bad.You will need to have it diag.at a shop rather than just trying parts to fix it.

Hello! It's unusual to lose just the instrument panel illumination and nothing else...Check the IPC/DIC Fuse (10A) in the under hood fuse box...If it is OK...The +5 volt reference supply from the Body Control Module which supplies the instrument illumination is suspect...It can easily be checked at the Headlamp Switch Dimming Control...Pry the switch out using a thin blade screw driver...Wrap a piece of tape over the tip...The three wires you are interested in are Gray...Gray/Black And Orange/Black on the dimmer switch...Set a voltmeter to read 5 volts...Clip the (+) probe on the Orange/Black wire and the (-) probe on the Gray/Black...Turn on the key...You should read around 2.5 volts (depending on the dimmer position)...Rotate the dimmer control and the voltage should rise to 4.5 volts at max...If you read 0 volts move the (+) probe to the Gray wire...You should read +5 volts...If there is +5 on the Gray and 0 on the Orange/Black the Dimmer Switch is defective and is the cause of the fault...Record readings and send a comment...I'll take it from there....Guru....Saailer
